Everyone is doing so well, there's some high scores up there already :T
I had quite a frank talk with my dad today. He's always suffered with depression, sometimes chronically. Also in more recent years he's had a lot of problems with his stomach and bowels etc. I think at one point he quietly thought he had the dreaded C-word. Anyway, I was explaining to him today that I had cut down my drinking, and he said he was relieved as he didn't want me to turn out like him. I know he gave up drinking a few ago, and he was never an alcoholic but enjoyed a few jars a few times a week. It turns out all the bad stuff he was experiencing was his body telling him to cut out the booze, after years of him enjoying it a wee bit too much. I've dislayed a few of the same symptoms over the last few years and always thought I was just 'turning into Dad'. Now I wonder if alcohol is the common link.0 -

I can identify with your comments.
You can tell your dad that you "know" somebody who ignored all the warnings and they ended up being admitted to hospital as an emergency patient and given a 50% chance of survival.
Having tried every anti-depressant drug on the market I have found that my moods have lifted now that I can no longer drink.
.Living Sober.
Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for me please Bearacus.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Morning everyone,
Thanks for all your fab scoring Bearacus and Shaggy, you are both brill! Bearacus, sorry not to make all 4 school nights this week.
Have a great holiday Mackeroo!
Work is really busy and I woke up in the night feeling like I couldn't breathe which has happened on two other occasions in the last 4 months. I think it's just me stressing so I will work hard to get everything I need to done today and then maybe have a bath or watch some tv or read my book tonight to chill out. And I want to do my planned jog tomorrow morning. The other times it happened there was cheese and too much wine the night before but this time I had only had a small glass of wine last night and no cheese.
The quality rest of my sleep was much better last night apart from that and I got back to sleep more quickly than the other times so I'm trying not to be a hypochondriac drama queen and rush off to see a quack. Maybe if I keep up my jogging, decrease my boozing and eat healthily I'll find it doesn't happen again.
Have a good Thursday everyone, Friday and home to my own bed again tomorrow - yippee. (And OH, miss him lots more than the bed that came out wrong!!)0 -

This happened to my husband quite a lot at night, sent him to the doctors and he has asthma. Very late to develop and only really bothered him at night. Might be worth being checked out. (Oh and happened especially if he had had a drink.)
