Bearacus, I was in a very similar situation to you about five years ago. My mum was diagnosed with womb cancer in the May before I was due to go away in June with my 4 month old son and dh. She was given the date of her hysterectomy a few days before we were due to go away for two weeks in June. i was gutted and decided not to go away but the hoo ha i got from my mum, dad and immediate family made me continue with my plans because they all said I needed the break, couldn't be much help while being a nursing mum etc. It was hard to leave the situation but I did and i must admit it helped me to function normally when I would have been frozen with fear at home-eg i was pushing buggies up hills and feeding which kept my mind off things. After a bad prognosis my mum has now five years later been told she's in remission and i never regret my little break because gave me the strength to be(outwardly) positive and energetic whilst my mum went through the chemo. Good morning all, 30 days for June please Shaggy.
Finishing May on 31. I resisted temptation at a festival. Friends started drinking practically as soon as the breakfast crumbs were wiped from their faces and continued until their heads hit the pillow. The strain on the liver and purse strings must be imense.
I came home a day early, watching drunken antics became a bit boring. Glad to be back home in my own bed.

    Morning everyone
Still on 12 Af please Shaggy, well below my monthly target and at least half of what ive achieved previous months. Gave myself a stern talking to last night (thankfully no one around to hear it :p) i need to refocus and get back on track in June.

Day off today, just made bread and have come back to bed with a cup of tea. Made a chocolate cake for 1st time at weekend and to avoid tempatation gave it to DH to take into work, they all raved about it, 1 colleague said it would win prizes! Soo chuffed as it was a really simple recipe. Heading to the cinema tonite to see Long way back. Have a nice day x

29 target for June, please Shaggy. And I can post total for May of 25, thanks, cos won't be drinking tonight or tomorrow.

Darwin's Mum, you are a little inspiration - well done and keep it up! I've been getting a lot better recently, but instead of ending the month 1 over target, decided to allow myself wine last night, still keeping within AFD target, but had far too much, so total units for the month are not good. I have a couple of outings this month, and will allow myself one drink at one of them, so that's why my target is 29.

Just dusted off my copy of 'Living Sober' to read this month.

Have a good and relaxing bank holiday - pouring with rain here of course!!
