Happy day as finally had confirmation that a place has come available at my first choice school - managed to avoid celebratory drink though!

    Good News :T:T:T
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

In the past month I reckon I've cut my alcohol consumption by over 90% (from typically 300 units per month down to less than 30 units per month...)

    That's Fantastic :T:T:T:T:T

Based on your post I think I also need to consider how many units I'm drinking...so focusing!!

Massive well done to you :T - great post, thank you!!

I keep a diary of my alcohol consumption/ imbibing in a spreadsheet and it calculates my weekly units so I can see if it is heading towards unhealthy. I try to keep my average weeky units at around 10, though my average at the moment is currently 12. The government recommended max is 14.

I find this helps me a lot.

Morning all, last night saw me notch up another AFD, bringing my total to 10 for this month.
After an evening event a few friends sat outside drinking and smoking, which the old me would have loved. I stayed for a short while but left when I found myself staring at a large glass of red wine and loving the smell. Odd as I have never liked red wine.
I used to be really creative when I had had a drink, and thought that this would never materialise if I stopped drinking. Glad to say, it is on its way back after only a month of not drinking. Getting a natural buzz to me is so much more preferable to any buzz that alcohol ever gave me, with the added advantage that I don't have a wretched hangover the next day.

Have a great day y'all, keep up the good work with your challenges.
Thanks for keeping score as ever Shaggy.

Well done eca00-thats such a massive reduction. I wonder how much i was drinking at my worst-i'd say i'd probably put 4 bottles of wine a week away without thinking about it. How many units is that? Have a great day everyone.

There are between 8 and 10 units in a bottle of wine - it depends how strong it is....

    Good morning all!

    Sumsup - congratulations!:T

eca00opc - well done on such a drastic reduction in your alcohol units. :T

Mrsr - any news on Mr R?

Its wierd, but I've never really focussed on the units aspect of my drinking. Guss I knew it would shock me!:o May try keeping track for a few weeks.

Also, with regards to TV programmes showing drinking, yes it gets to me too. I tend to sit here thinking "well, THEY'RE doing it, so it must be ok!" But then TV programmes aren't real life. You don't see someone on eastenders starting drinking at 5pm and falling asleep in the armchair by 8pm with a half eaten plate of toast in front of them! (which is generally what I do!)
