I'm going to say this next bit at a whisper, but...........
There may have been a breakthrough in the Rainman household this weekend. MrR may finally be seeing sense.
Now I'm not going to get too excited as we've been here before but following a few discussions yesterday i have a good feeling about it. However, I will have to wait until this evening to see if he stops at the shop to buy wine. Fingers crossed!!
Have a good day all!
MrsR xx
Well, not quite the break through I was hoping for, but it's a start. Only a 6 pack of Bud was bought (and drunk) yesterday. So 9 units (about 1 bottle of wine), in comparison to the 2+ he would normally drink. However, he was on call last night so he shouldn't have had a drink at all!! So I think it'll be "watch this space" for how it will be when he's not on call. He's had a some contact from family members about getting some help, I hope he's hearing it.

Also, with regards to TV programmes showing drinking, yes it gets to me too. I tend to sit here thinking "well, THEY'RE doing it, so it must be ok!" But then TV programmes aren't real life. You don't see someone on eastenders starting drinking at 5pm and falling asleep in the armchair by 8pm with a half eaten plate of toast in front of them! (which is generally what I do!)

Eastenders is definately one of the worst programmes for this!! Everyone seems to have bottles of whiskey/various spirits stashed away in cupboards, desk drawers, everywhere!!! I don't know anyone who keeps a bottle of Scotch in their desk at work!! Lol!!

I worked with a guy who kept a 7up bottle filled with vodka in his desk, stashed vodka bottles behind the skip outside and used to top up when he went for a cigarette and drank special brew behind tesco at lunch time. He used to be a manager, was demoted to our department when he lost his license for drink driving, his marriage broke up, then he came in after lunch one day absolutely off his face staggering round etc so he was dismissed (he had had numerous chances before.) Poor guy I hope he has managed to turn his life around now.HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18
