Filming kids in park

After school today we went to out local park (opposite school so very popular) anyway while on the swings we noticed the house on the edge of the park had what looked like a stephoscope aiming from its window straight into the park - on closer inspection we discovered it was a video camera  (from window to play area is 2-3meters)
the house had metal cages covering the low windows which i imagine is to stop footballs etc getting kicked at the glass.
i find it rather disturbing that some old bloke is allowed to film young kids playing - even if its is there to stop his property getting damaged. although i would have thought it be more use actually covering his property and not pointing directly at our young children.

As a keen amateur photographer I find comments like this rather disturbing.
There is NO law in this country to stop anyone filming or photographing whatever they wish ( with a few exceptions).
If this "old bloke" (categorised already - I'm surprised he wasn't actually labelled a !!!!!phile !!!) wishes to film from his property he is quite entitled to do so. If people don't like their kids being filmed/photographed - hard luck, take them elsewhere or keep them indoors !
This used to be a free country until this paranoia about photographing anything took over.
I suppose you ask permission when you take photographs when you are out with your camera - or don't you ?0 -

I like the way it's immediately assumed there is some dodgy reason/that it's illegal...given the description of the property I wouldn't be surprised if the camera is to catch idiots deliberately kicking balls at his house or something similar:)
You don't tend to put things like metal bars over the windows unless you've had problems...0 -
