My Redundancy Diary

  • Hi All,

Just to update you where I am (sounding very much like that annoying woman off Dragon's Den!)

In the last couple of weeks I've been offered a job and not taken it (it just didn't fit right...you know when it doesn't) and I've been rejected from a couple of others. Latest one within the last hour.

So...with 4 weeks to go till I leave employment, I've decided it's very much a case of Que Sera Sera...I'll keep looking of course but I'm taking the pressure off myself now otherwise I just know that if nothing happens for me I'll become so wound up and frustrated it won't be any good for me and my family.

Infact, I'll be more than happy to have the Summer holidays off with my lad, revamp the bathroom and get the jobs on the house sorted that need doing!

I've been asked to do some more plastering work so that'll keep me busy in the meantime also.

Despite all this, me and the good lady are off to Munich on Sunday to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and we'll bloomin' enjoy it!

    Have a good weekend....Matt

I went for a job and got it and turned it down as well as it didnt feel right - so you are not the only one xxxx I would recommend Next Steps for people who can access it - and just starting to finally build my website - business cards have been ordered xxx

friend applied for Cont based JSA on the phone. All savings Qs were asked/answered. £16k + in savings.
    Went to Job Centre. Interview

"Definately no Conts based JSA to be allowed"

???!!!??? Goes against all that is on here. SURELY they are wrong ?

Will be going myself in a couple of weeks.

C96 you would be staggered at the number of "my friend knows someone who lived next door to someone else and they applied and didn't get it" stories I have heard. When the time comes just apply and see what happens. You have nothing to lose.:)

The exception to contributions based jsa is if you are receiving a pension. This may make you ineligible. Are they receiving a pension.

Plus they may not have paid enough ni in the past 2 years.

c96 - I think you are miss understanding me. Not to declare all is fraud....... so as I said in post #109 I answered the question as follows

"In total, do you have savings of more than
£16000? I anwered yes. That was the only question I had. i don't know why you seem to be getting more?"

I know how stressful these times can be but try and just go with it and accept any assistance that is available be it financial, training opportunities or just info from speaking with others. I will be the first to say that I found the initial lack of control difficult to cotend with. You can and will regain this with a little patience and perseverance.

I receive a small pension and was entitled to JSA based on contributions - I received the grand sum of £2.50 but I need to sign on for the stamps.

ja4me thanks for the good point and reminder re NI contributions.

I am still awaiting my second payment and continue to look for work. CV is now completed and just wondering whether to put it out on some job sites. I do believe that your cv needs to be changed for each post applied for and therefore am not rushing to do this.

Anyone have any experiences to share on this?
