Same here - Never missed a payment, 2 increases since i've had the card. £100 to £200, then 200£ to 700£ after 12 month. Also mainly used the card for bits and pieces here and there, but it's always paid in full by DD

I've had my Classic card for 11 months. Started at £200 then increased to £500. Always paid on time, though there was one slip up where I paid twice in one month and not at all the next. I always pay more than the minimum and occasionally in full.

So, as you can see, it's not exactly a 'glowing' history with them, so what could the criteria for this promotion be? There seems to be no link here.

Just received an email with my online account details for the progress account, limit £750. As above, my classic is @ £1000.

I already have the Classic and have just applied online for the progress.

It went straight through 3 stages (verifcation, details and initial credit check) and then came up with the credit agreement which I had to sign online by inputting name and then again inputting name in the 'insurance bit'

The message also said further checks to be carried out.

Most people on this thread seem to have received the agreement to sign in the post. Am I the only one that has been able to do it online or have some people manged to do the same as me and still get the card?

The only reason mine was posted was because their website messed up and it wouldn't let me do it online. It did ask me to, but the link wouldn't click through to let me sign.

I had all of this and thought I was home and dry. However I got a letter this morning containing the following:

    Dear Ms xxx

    Your application ref xxxxxxxx

Thank you for applying for a Capital One credit card.

You already have a Capital One credit card. Unfortunately I am unable to process your application because this invitation isn't open to existing customers.

I am therefore assuming that there is a length of time and how you use your card criteria (they make no money out of me as I pay off my balance in full) but there was a credit check on my Experian file.

OK, thanks for the update. Have had the Classic for some years now and nearly always pay it off in full. Very rarely carry a balance
  • Update.

Card arrived this morning, activated no problem.

    (I signed agreement online).

Can't work out their criteria here.

    This is the confusing part
this invitation isn't open to existing customers
As we have seen it certainly is open to existing members :S
  • Ok - online account set up (albeit with restricted access for security purposes as it is a brand new account)
