Ok it has arrived no sign of a SD card or anywhere to place it. Has anyone any ideas on this?

On other matters it does prove my theory that people with short fat fingers should not use small touch screens!

The SD card was already inside my phone, yours might be too?

I somehow managed to spend £1 on internet usage without realising - I thought I was safely using the net for free via home wifi, but hey ho. This - my first - smart phone is making me feel less than smart, but I'll get used to it soon (I hope!)

Yes I found it by taking the cover off!

You have to dial 441 apparently to activate the free net, found this out when a very nice lady who I could not understand, but if I tried to speak in chinese I bet she would stuggle to understand me, told me I had to but it is ok she will sort it.

I now have a text telling me it is set-up still can't get it to receive my mails from my hotmail account though.

It works on WIFI but, certainly in my case, not at the same time as anything else!

But so long as I can get the emails, footie scores, come on champions elect super seagulls, and facebook it is fine.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

I thought the free internet with Giffgaff finished on 4th April.
    Taken from website
    Free Mobile Internet:
You lucky giffgaff pioneers can even enjoy free UK mobile Internet up to the 04 APR 2011. After that date, mobile Internet will be charged at 20p a day (if you use less than 1MB/day you'll pay less than 20p and if you go over 20MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB). But all our goodybags that include unlimited Internet will continue including unlimited Internet after the 04 APR 2011.

£10 goodybag, 250 UK minutes here to stay
Good news, the £10 goodybag will continue to include 250 UK minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited mobile internet as part of our permanent goodybag collection.

Data charging will commence from the 1st April and we will send messages to all members to confirm this before the pricing goes live. We will also let you know how much data you are currently using during a month, so you will be able to see how much it will cost once we charge for data. To be clear this is specifically regarding data for members who do not have a goodybag or on the £5 goodybag.

implement it from 1st April. So, for members who do not have a goodybag (or are on the £5 goodybag), data will be charged; 20p per MB, charged in kB of use (until 1MB is used), after this, data is free until you use over 20MB, when you will be charged 20p per MB thereafter.

Put in another way, 20p a day for 20 MB. If you go over the 20MB, you will pay 20p per MB. If you use a small amount of data, then don’t worry, there is a ramp up to the 20p, charged in KB. The aim of this is suit members who do not buy goodybags and either use a little or a lot of data. The percentage of customers using on average above 20MB per day is 7.6%. This pricing strikes that balance for the majority of members and is competitive with the PAYG market.

Just a warning not to assume you immediately have the 6 months free internet, as you might be using your £10 credit instead:

I got the phone yesterday, really liked it & connected to the net via home wifi, dowloaded some apps, & played around a bit. Then when the £10 credit was added they immediately took £1 off for internet use.

Okay I can live with that, but I'm impatient for the promised 6 months free net use and contacted them today to see when I'd get it. A nice lady said she'd add the net allowance both "now" and "within 24 hours". I didn't press her on that contradiction too much as English clearly wasn't her 1st language. She also said she'd re-credit me the £1.

150 & the online system both say I've no allowance & £9 credit. So the phone is staying at home right next to the router until I'm sure the net allowance has kicked in. Which is a little frustrating but hey ho.

Update: Half an hour after my last conversation with them, the free internet has been enabled and my credit is now £10.20 ! :):)

Yes but so far I have failed to get a single page up via the mobile net!

Just keeps seeking or saying not connected I know I am dodgy for Virgin here so the same for T-Mobile but it does say it is connected 3G

Many thanks OP, I ordered earlier in the week and received it yesterday. I'm really pleased with it - the screen is nowhere near as responsive as on my HTC Wildfire, but I wanted this so I could have a budget phone to take out riding and track where I've been etc. I've just come back from mapping my first ride on MyTracks, and it uploaded it to Google Maps straight away, no bother. I use it on Wi-fi most of the time on my home network, which it's fine with.

I hadn't got around to calling CS to activate my free web, but a few minutes ago I got a text saying "Do not miss out! To get 6 months of free Internet, just send FREE 6 MONTH WEB to 441". I've done that, but haven't received any confirmation yet. Though it did say it'd received a webmail just after I sent that, but I'm not sure what it meant as there's no new emails showing.

Am very happy with it :)

I have found the screen to be a little more responsive after I recalibrated it (Settings ~ Sound & Display ~ Calibration), It's still not perfect but It's now as responsive as my Nokia 5800 was.

In regards with the free internet, I also had to contact customer services. I did it by email and was really surprised how quick they were at replying and resolving the problem for me.

Thank you mew, it's definitely better now after recalibrating! It kept choosing the wrong letters on the keyboard before, even when I was using the stylus!
