I didn't manage my exercise bike today, but I did go on two walks that totalled 5.71 miles, so not all is lost. And I did 15.22 miles on my bike last night.

Food this week hasn't been great though, including lunch at McDonalds (that turned out to be 1300 calories ) and a take away pizza last night (although not from any well known chain, and piled high with veggies).

It's difficult, I beat myself up so much when I eat bad things, or if I don't exercise - so why do I keep eating bad things and skipping exercise sessions??

Ok many things going on here

    1) losing weight is 85% about what you eat, exercise helps a little but unless your going full on biggest loser style 8 hours a day its not going to make a huge difference to your total loss. Cardio exercise is mostly about getting healthy. If possible you should do some resistance training as it helps prevent lean muscle loss and it accelerates your metabolism of up to 48 hours.

    2) It definitely looks like you are still under a carb addiction, if you can you need to address this. There's nothing wrong with going out for a meal or having the odd blow out, infact it may help weight loss since your body has a nasty habit of adjusting to your environment and reducing calories by too much for too long can put you in starvation mode. If your going to hit the fast food places just try to be a little smarter and pick the lower carb options.

I went to EDs dinner in blue water a few weeks back, i had a double burger with with bacon and cheese, i missed the chips and didnt eat the bun. I avoided there billion calorie shakes as well, you should never drink any of your calories except for some whole milk each day. I still lost weight that week.

If you get a choice for take outs then go for the healthier options, Indian (tandoori meats with a small portion of rice) or a kebabs (chicken kebab with salad and no chips)

    3) You had a bad day, so what it does not matter, you can not change it so there's no point in beating yourself up over it. Focus on what you can change, which is what you will be doing in the future. No1 goal to live by imo - Control the Controllables, ignore everything else.

Where's puddings these days? I hope he's ok?

In my mind puddings has never addressed or even looked at addressing his demons and either hides it with his humour or by going OTT with his weightless regime as compensation which is unsustainable long term

    I hope I am wrong.

Walked home from town this afternoon = 4.36 miles, and a MASSIVE [STRIKE]blister[/STRIKE] hole in my foot to show for it. I had to send my boyfriend out for those blister plasters because I was in absolute agony

top tip, if your going to walk or run for any length of time get proper running socks, i suffered from blisters for ages, but against my supreme tightness i forked out for some proper socks (at nearly £10 a pair!) but have never had a blister since :T

dont skimp on proper running shoes either, they protect your joints.

Does anyone fancy an East v West challenge next month?

Also the suggestion of logging the time you exercise was a good one for the exercise challenge - does anyone have any other suggestions?

How about climbing the Burj Khalifa, 2909 steps to the 160th floor! Thats about 234 times up your stairs in a normal house or 8 times a day.

Hi Dinah93 - be careful with foodfocus, you need to make sure it's showing a sufficient amount of calories. If I put in a 2lb per week loss goal, it sets my daily calorie allowance to 507  even adding exercise on top, that is a seriously unhealthy amount. HTH :)

Eric - I thought Dinah meant she was jsut drinking more. But, poo to you being negative on alcohol! Its not empty, you get a good time out of it!

Is anyone watching the Giro d'italia? Their fitness levels must be out of this world!!!

Vix gets me - of course I'm not feeling poorly and downing the booze, I'm just getting through water and a bit of squash like its going out of fashion.

Watching the Giro on and off. I'm having difficulty watching it this year after Weylandt. I'm also sick to the back teeth of doping accussations, I know cycling tests more rigourously than most other sports, but it sometimes feels like you shouldn't support any of the riders as they're only going to be tarnished soon. I'm also not good at sitting still that long, I only ever tend to watch the highlight shows now. I'm still gutted C4 stopped their Tour de France coverage and I think its been gone about 10 years now!

I know what you mean about foodfocus good girl. I have it set that I want to loose 1lb a week, and it tells me I can have 1207 cals a day, obviously I can't therefore tell it I want to loose any more than this as the cals number would be too low.

I'm definately up for climbing the Burj Khalifa - I've been to Dubai and stood under it so it would have some perspective for me.

Interesting about the dairy. It always seemed a bit of a contradiction to me as diary is so beneficial but I still can't get out the negative feelings towards cheese and that side of health.
