Thanks Eric that's exactly the kind of thing I need!I'll build a workout using some of those exercises and see how it goes

Failing that, Rosemary Conley has a video demonstrating an indoor workout that you can do in your own home or anywhere.
There is a sports centre but unfortunately you need to pay a subscriptionIt's a bit cheaper than non student places but it's still more than I can afford.
I like the look of that Rosemaary Conely DVD, might take a look around ebay and see if I can get a cheap second hand copyworld_of_tights wrote: »As for exercising on a budget - work out dvds! You can pick up some of them really inexpensively on amazon - I recently got one of the Brittish Biggest Loser dvds for less than £4. The '10 minute...' ones are also good, and pretty cheap. Davina's work outs are good, and can be pretty tough, and there are loads of other ones with reviews kicking about on amazon.
Alternatively, you could try picking up a cheapy exercise bike on gumtree, or I know argos do a super cheap one - but I think it might fall apart if you look at it too hard.
Failing all that, dancing about is always a good one! I have a half hour mix tape that I put on, and then bust some serious movesSeriously though, just moving about and getting your heart rate up is great for you.
I'm pretty sure my local library has loads of DVDs including workout ones - definately going to give that a tryAnd I never thought about dancing! Just better make sure none of my flatmates walk in on me dancing around the flat or I'll never be allowed to live it down

Hello to Littleangle1 and congratulations on your newborn baby! 5 weeks is very soon to worry about losing weight, especially if you are recovering from a c-section and even more so if you are breast feeding too! Remember there is a saying " 9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off"
So I would just concentrate on eating well, healthy food, lots of fruit and veg. I am sure that Eric will be along, he always has good suggestions on healthy eating.0 -

Used my new gadget (my new amazing scales) for the first time today and I have to say i am in love with it! (though not in love with a couple of the readings):o
Fred, can you put me down for 3.1lbs lost. I've gone from 65.2kg on the 2nd of may to 63.8kg today (so 3.1lbs lost over 2 weeks). Kind of bitter sweet, as it makes me 300g over the 10stone that i wanted to be for today, but I can now officially say I've lost more than 4stone, waheyy! Please don't put me towards sotw as 3.1lbs is what i've lost over the 2 weeks rather than this week.
Also found out a couple of other things from the scale:
I've got a bodyfat % of 34.9which is 2% above the upper limit for normal for my age group. (Normal is 21 - 32.9% and high is 33 - 38.9%) I'm planning on getting to about 28% or thereabouts but will obviously aim as low as I can. My muscle % is 28% so i'm towards the upper end of normal range for my age group
(normal is 24.3 - 30.3% whereas high is 30.4 - 35.3%) except in this case the higher it is the better it is but obviously I don't want it too high as to be a bodybuilder lol. So I'm aiming to put on a bit more muscle and get into the high category, maybe 32/33%, though 31% would be ok aswell. My visceral fat is 4 waheyy! I was so scared that I was going to find it to be high. (visceral fat is the fat around your organs). Normal is 1-9, high is 10-14 and very high is 15-30.
Anyway, it was an eye opener, it really made me think more about everything. I wish I had this scale since the start. I mean knowing your weight alone is great, but now I'm able to see that my body fat% is not healthy, and just seeing that number alone drop would make me happy. Now I'd be able to check my progress on reducing my bodyfat and increasing my muscle.
Started P90x today. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I used 4.5kg weights and before I started insanity, I'd have to say i might have struggled with the push ups and towards the end of some of the moves using the weights, but insanity has really toned up my arms and given me extra strength so i might have to use my brother's weights for the rest of the workouts(which go upto 20kg). After insanity though, p90x i think will be a breeze but we'll see.
Didn't end up doing the insanity fit test yesterday as sister was revising so we set a deal and i get to use the laptop from 8pm-9pm everyday, starting from today so im gonna have to do the fit test at the end of this week.
Fred, can you also add 8miles to the eurovision challenge please, thanks.0 -

in reality if you don't street run and are not looking to do timed competitions its an irrelevance. With treadmill work its best to monitor HR
I have a prob with my HR monitor that something on my treadmill upsets it so it says my HR is 258
I think (but i'm not a Dr) that if my HR was 258 I would be pretty much dead so my it is a little confusing at the moment.
When I want to check my HR I have to have the watch part resting on the band that is around my chest so it doesn't get the interference but it is a little unnatural running like thatSo I cannot get an idea of my average but normally I am around 159 - 168 I think.
x_raphael_xx wrote: »It was 1.0 on the treadmill I was on, so no idea what it would be on a different machine, it was basically the first incline, so only very slight, not really noticeable, but the trainer said it helped so... :undecided
I used to be able to do about 45 mins on a treadmill, but now I run outside I can't do it!! I struggle to run 10 minutes! I think it's because I get bored.
I really enjoy running outside, it's totally different to the treadmill. Your body has to work harder as the ground is constantly changing, you get some nice views too. We're going to France again in a couple of months, can't wait to run those long beautiful roads
That sounds wonderful running in france i'm totally jealous
I started running outside but I live in a very hilly area so I kept ending up running uphill and getting terrible calf cramps. That is why I ended up buying a treadmill and also means I can run whenever I want.
I find as I have been listening to the C25K podcasts I just let my mind wonder and being on the treadmill doesn't bother me ATM. But now I have finished that I want to try and get back outside to tackle the hillsRain isn't my favourite but I just keep on with the outdoor stuff whatever the weather!
I wish I could find your attitude Missy, running in the rain doesn't sound like my kind of fun
Cheesecat - Thanks for your nice words, but it has taken over 15 months to loose that amount, but slowly is def the way to go
Tights - 3lbs is a good loss don't feel disheartened :T
Betty - thanks for the link for the music I have downloaded it and might give it a go in the morningHow is your challenge going ? is your knee settled now ?

Hey tagz!!
*waves* I'm good. Thinner than i was when i spoke to you lastHow are you?
Hi Vix
I'm fine thanks, a bit thinner too but not quite at my goal weight! The weight loss has given me a bit of a confidence boost, so I 'got over myself' and I'm going to uni! Start an art course at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon in September. Look out Tracey Emin!:D
Any bits of news your end?I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
Thanks for the kind welcome :j
I will join in posting here but I suppose it makes sense to start the challenges at the beginning of the month?
I can add you to the 5lb challenge if you want.
Also the Eurovision challenge is also one you can join mid month if you want - just log the distances you've run, cycled etc and I'll add you to the chart and see where you end up.
Same for any other people who want to join those 2 challenges - there will be new ones at the beginning of next month.
Hi Tagz - glad you're keeping well0 -
I would like to get my hands on the menus/copy of the 17 day diet, free of course or at least at a very reduced fee!! Any ideas anyone???:rotfl:0
