If you feel awake and oomph enough to put in a good workout at that time then i don't see why not? I prefer the morning, so i can some home and eat or just before dinner for the same reason! I always use that excuse that my metabolism is faster after exercise so when i eat, i eat it better!! (probably untrue)

    Hi everyone :)

I have a question about best times to exercise...

Would it be 'bad' to do the 40 mins on my exercise bike at say 10pm? Are there any negative effects to exercising so late? When is the optimum time to work out?

I've always thought the same as Vix, that your metabolism is faster or something after exercise, so you burn more calories if you eat within an hour or so of exercising. Saying that, I prefer to exercise late at night as that is when I have free time.
I don't think there is any 'bad' time to exercise, it will all help, so fit it in whenever is easiest as you will be more likely to stick to the routine.

Don't know if it'll make the chart, but just adding another 3.6 km, which makes 31 km/19.26 miles. Not much, but my back is still aching so am not feeling up to much tonight, will do more tomorrow. :)

If it makes any difference I usually eat dinner at around 7pm.

    Thanks :D

exercise release hormones which will still be in your system that late and are likely to disrupt your sleep, with sleep being the most important thing you do during the day

for weight loss its generally considered best to exercise first thing for two reasons, you will be fasted so should switch into fat burning mode quickly and you will "hyper accelerate" your metabolism for the at least the rest of the day

at the end of the day thou, go with what works for you

I'm gunna swap gym today with a bit of lawn mowing (to my guinea pigs disappointment) and a bike ride. I can't turn out to be a bit of a gym freak!! My parents are going out later so i'll probably boogie in front of the tv and try to do some tricep work to get rid of these bingo wings!

Oh, when i said i didn't notice a difference in my bottom half, i think i do. The bit above my knee to the sides looks thinner. But i want thinner hips!! ha, never happy!!

    Fred,

Please add on to my eurovision challenge:

    1 hour Crosstrainer - 8.71k (606calories burnt)
then decided I wanted to round it up so went back on the crosstrainer:
    6mins 46secs - 1.29k (65calories)

    So, a total of 10k/6miles in 1 hour 6mins 46 secs :j

Day 54/63 Insanity workout this morning. The first time since the programme when I really wanted to give up. I started Insanity due to my tummy and as far as I can see, it's still big (not ripped at all). True, it's given me a fitter body and my arms are toned due to all dem push-ups, my stamina is also greater and my weight down but my main aim was my tummy. Perhaps it's destined to stay this way after 5 kids 'cos if Insanity couldn't touch it, don't know what will :( If I measure my waist from my belly button, it's a whopping 33" (which can't be healthy). I'm a pro at sucking my belly in when I'm out and about and when I measure it then, I'm 32" so still big but a whole inch off :rotfl:I must confess that I did not measure my waist BEFORE insanity (wish I had) so I may very well have lost inches there but nevertheless, I'm still NOT RIPPED!!!!

I've now ordered a book from Amazon for 1p
Bodydoctor: Trust Me, I'm the BodyDoctor. It promises to trim up to 5 inches from your waist in 6 weeks. Most of the exercises are gym-based so we'll see. Hope it arrives soon.
