Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
Congratulations Betty!
Aww I only went on holiday and I got kicked off the chart!!! AND you moved house.
Anyway, back now. I gained 0.6lbs on holiday - which I don't think is too bad considering it was all inclusive. Tried to focus on the meat and veg, but the pasta lured me in on two occassions, and there was of course the obligatory daily ice cream (although we went on a 20min walk to get it).
Since coming back the diet has been terrible, cupboards are bare of anything healthy, so it's been lots of couscous, pasta and homemade soup. I really want to get back to loosing weight, but I also want to save some £s and the two seem to be at odds when I could feed us for months on the carb mountain in the cupboards, but there is no meat in sight. We do have 9 courgettes as DH saw them yellow stickered... not quite sure what to do with 9 courgettes before they go off!
In cal terms I'm at about 1300 for today (which makes me feel no better as I'm definately a meat + veg good, cals bad girl now), but it's all been bad and sugary - special k clusters and skimmed milk for brekkie (which were vile but all we had in the cupboard), kit kat mid morning, 2 diet cokes, hm parsnip soup and 2 slices hm bread for lunch, kit kat mid afternoon, 5 strawberries, and apple and half a punnet of blueberries at 5pm, about 10 boiled sweets throughout the day as my throat is scratchy with hayfever. And tonight is a buffet for my boss's retirement do. Thankfully I don't really get hungry in the evening so if there is nothing "good" there I will just leave it. I have brought the car though so I can't drink so at least thats something. Yesterday I actually had 6 J2Os and my only dinner was 5 thorntons chocolates which I don't even like. Can someone shake me please as my sugar addiction seems to be worse than ever, I don't even like half the things I'm eating I'm just hungry and they're to hand.
5lbs challenge again for me please, something has to spur me on.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Another walk for me tonight - 2.86 miles.

Congrats Betty!
2.25miles on exercise bike for me so far, gonna do another 3 miles or so later. Will also post my fit test results from this week and also last times one which I forgot to put up.0 -
Congratulations Betty!!! That's fantastic! :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: ... And a great loss too!
Well I managed 1.1 km on the bike before the kids interrupted! So that's 0.68 miles (10.4 km, 6.4 miles in total). May try to get back on later, doubt it though as I'm feeling quite lazy today!0 -
So you know I did 3 odd miles yesterday? Well today I did 2.64 miles according to my step counter-and that was just the school run.So in 2 days Ive done a total of 6.4 miles. So *if* were participating in the Eurovision challenge-where would I be?
It's my weigh in day tomorrow, meeting is at 7pm.I treated myself to a pair of those ballet slipper type shoes,so they're easy to just slip on and off for the scales.I've had a good week and I've tracked everything and drank loads of liquid and am feeling generally quite excited-but nervous too.I want to have a sneaky peak but I know my scales are dodgy so I wont...but Im tempted.
ETA: Lolly look see...we've done EXACTLY the same combined distance!0 -

Betty & Mr Betty
Yay, I'm so happy for you guys! Did you have any idea he was going to do it? Had he planned it in advance, or was it a spur of the moment thing? I think I definitely need more details of the moment. Oooh, ooh, so I guess you're going to be aiming to lose weight for a wedding dress fitting now, huh? What an incentive!:rotfl: I don't think Mr Sary would consider offering me the same incentive... he mused, in an absentminded way recently that he'd 'not yet the right person to marry'.... I presume he means before me, but hey, he's known for being like a vocal sledgehammer sometimes. :cool:Hi all! I recently had some pics taken of my diving and I thought I'd make one of them into a 'before and after' (although I don't seem to have any pics of me at my absolute biggest, wonder why...!)
Hopefully this shows the benefits of my exercise regime. I'll leave it up for a little while and then remove it.
Have a great weekend :j
Booo, hissss, I missed it!!Hi everyone, didn't expect to find this here. I've been trying to lose weight for several weeks but weight has remained EXACTLY the same no matter what I do (and I've checked scales working). I'm 5'2" size 18, small frame (size 8-10 before having daughter) and 13st 4lb. I've been exercising by what I know is not strenuous enough exercise of gentle swimming 2-3 times a week plus v long walks of up to 8 miles (but even though gentle exercise it should still burn calories right?) Also have cut out crisps and choc, have switched to skimmed milk and sweeteners for tea and cereal and diet juice only. Didn't expect huge difference but figured I'd lose around 1lb a week and after a while would feel up to running which I did before dd too. I've apt with Dr next week as I'm also experiencing some stomach pain and bloated feeling. If nothing medical what on earth am I doing wrong?? Have ordered Nadia Sawalha and Beginning Yoga DVD's for a hope of exercise boost, I'm really confused.
Try a trick the Slimming World plan uses, where you have to fill at least 1/3 of your plate each mealtime with fruit or vegetables. Doesn't matter which ones, although fruits like avocados and bananas in large quantities won't do you any favours, so use common sense. It really does help to fill you up, and I tend to eat that part of my plate 1st, then the protein, and leave the carb bit till last. I usually leave the pasta or potatoes left on my plate, as I'm too full to eat them.Matryoshka wrote: »When you fancy something sweet ( I haven't had any chocs in over a month), what do you generally have which is not too fattening? Thanks.
I like the Kellogs Fibre Plus Dark Choc bars. They are a lovely treat, feel really naughty, especially with a cuppa, but actually count as my fibre allowance each day on the SW plan. The choc is enough to satisfy any cravings I may have. Another good thing to have is a couple of chunks of high % dark choc. You can't eat too much I find, but again it satisfies the craving.... also keeps your bowels regular, and has other healthy benefits I believe. Another treat I like is strawberries in either natural yogurt, or in a flavoured yogurt, like a Muller Lite.
Fred, can I please be included in the monthly 5lb challenge, and I'll try to give the other challenge a go too, and aim for 1 circuit. I'm glad we're doing something Eurovision related, because I really do love it, despite it being so naff. I think it's the commentary, and last year the twitter feed about it was hysterical, not that we have a chance of winning again this year, but it's not about that anymore, is it?
I'm going to get my BF to go out for a walk with me each evening after dinner round the block, which will all help. I'll use map my run to work out the distances. I'm going back to the gym this week too, so can incorporate my cardio stuff.
I've been 'winging' it with my eating plan these past few weeks, and tbh had been getting away with it. Well it came back and not only bit me on my bum, but landed there and stuck too this week, I gained 3lb at my SW class on Monday, but this morning according to my scales have managed to limit that to +1.5lb. Not a great start to the month, or the challenge on here, but I promise it'll be better by next week.
Victory - good to hear from you again. Glad you seem to have a perspective on life now that things are calming down somewhat. I never got that stage of grief either, in fact I can only imagine you going through that if you had a loved one who was in the process of dying, not afterwards. Seems unrealistic to have those thoughts afterwards. The mobility scooter sounds like an absolute godsend for you. I hope we hear more about your trips out and about with the family more in the future. How did the valuation go today?
BB - I hope your health issues aren't too limiting for you, and that the raw smoothies help to alleviate some things for you.

Oooh polkadot you will soon be below 10k debt wise
We are:) Although it's really getting tough,we were using the "under one" child tax credit that we were getting for DS2 to try to make a dent, being aware that they would stop in August-but then one week we went from £49 a week-to £10...we were in that lump that had no warning.
To make it worse we are booked for Brighton this week end with a 2 night hotel stay of £200.We only decided to go for it because we've not been away (aside from to MrP's family in Sheff) since 2007.
Add to that I NEED to get driving lessons and cant get any help for that,we're using up either the savings or the OD.And we *know* that we wont be getting a renewal on our lease in December so are trying to make provision for a move-because we also *know* we're going to have a wait to get back this deposit.0
