Well, the bike still works, but the control panel has frozen! How am I ever going to finish my challenge now?!?!

Since this month's challenge is not about distance but time, you can still carry on. Simply use your clock/watch to time yourself (or maybe I'm misunderstanding).

Yo Fred, today's workout for moi:

    Core Cardio & Balance - 37 minutes

    Crosstrainer - 1 hour

I'm doing a calorie burning challenge, have been trying to time myself this morning as I know roughly how many cals I can burn in an hour on the bike, but I have to keep getting up every 5 mins (phone, door, baby, etc) so keep losing track!

Looked in the manual but it doesn't cover anything like this, there is an email address though so will try and contact them to see what they have to say about it.

Ok, having a quite good day today...

foodwise it's not my extreme plan yet but healthy I'd say: protein shake, coffee, green tea(a 500ml "bucket" as my boss says lol with a slice of lemon and orange as I hate green tea... :o will try pu-erth too soon...), veg soup with a slice of wholemeal bread for lunch... will have a smoothie for dinner and hopefully be able to resist my bf's pizza...
also 1 h 30 mins for me today please :) (1 hour on the bike and the 30 mins is all the walking around supermarkets today :rotfl: I've done and will do much more, ca. 2 hours probably, but as it's not proper exercise I will just count 25% of it, deal?)

lolly101 - What I would do is use any kind of stopwatch if I knew how many cals left were to be burnt and maybe try to do a little extra to account for any inaccuracy (i.e. due to your rough guess of cals burnt per hour).

Good idea, I think I should have a stopwatch on my phone so will use that. Feeling a little lost and disheartened without the cal counter though :(. I think I'll aim for 12,000 cals, and even if I'm still a little off it's not my only form of exercise so will have definitely burnt that many cals, one way or another!
  • hi every one.Fred will you please add 3 hours walk

Not had a very good day today, hardly any exercise done except walking, went shopping and didnt pick up any naughty sweets, cakes etc except for a pack of bakin boys cakes for my boys, and i couldnt resist the urge so i ate 2. not happy with myself. Dinner wasnt healthy either as it was chicken pizza(not a full one tho). but now feeling really guilty. I have jut spent half an hour scrubbing the living room carpet, trying to get it clean and i probably wouldnt have done that if i didnt feel guilty.
Was going to start doing my 30 day shred dvd again starting tomorrow, but my mum borrowed my dumbells the other week and i havent had the back yet. Got lots of cleaning to do in the morning before i meet my mum from work and go down to visit my gran which means i wont get home till about half 4 which at that time is dinner time and getting the boys into bed for 8, then my mate is meant to be coming up tomorrow night, which means i doubt i will be exercising tomorrow aswell apart from a bit of walking. Think i may be looking at a gain this week even tho i really want 3lb loss to take me to a stone lost.
sorry if that was too much of a rant, but just needed to write it down and get it out of my system as im stressing that i wont have exercised much in 2 days.

My freakin' exercise bike has broken!!!!!!!! Well, the bike still works, but the control panel has frozen! How am I ever going to finish my challenge now?!?!

I can do it on the wii, but won't be able to do anywhere near as much as I could on the bike. Going to get the bike manual out later to see if there's anything I can do to fix it.

The calorie counters on exercise equipment are super inaccurate, the closest thing to accuracy you can get at home is by using a polar system with owncal

Polar OwnCal feature shows your energy expenditure during exercise as well as your accumulated kilocalories to date. F6/F7/F11/F55 calculate an estimation of fat consumption from total kilocalories expended during an exercise session. The percentage of fat expended during exercise can vary between 0 and 60%. The value is displayed after the exercise.

    OwnCal draws its information from:
    • gender
    • body weight
    • height
    • exercise heart rate
    • exercise duration
    • maximum heart rate (HRmax) *
    • maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) *
    • resting heart rate (HRrest/sit) *
