Hi Spike, and everyone else,

Hope you have a good day at work. You sound like you've been busy. I'd love to keep chickens, but my dog would probably kill them. They are lovely animals to keep. Nice to have fresh eggs on demand.

Just plan on doing some laundry, and general tidying up today. Its a beautiful sunny day here, so perfect for drying.

My daughters just turned 7, and she still has the occasional accident. Perfectly normal, although inconvenient.

I've had a good day. Glad yours was too. xx

    Morning Spike!

Still sunny and bright here, although has turned a bit colder (for me), so back to warm clothes. Daughter stayed at her dads last night, and he dropped her to school, so no school run. They're both going there Saturday, which is great. I'm really pleased. I'm baaaad. :rotfl:

Sorting clothes, and cupboards out today. Hope you have a good day.

If you're baaaaad then i am sooooo baaaad i love the peace when they are at their dads.....this our time to recharge our batteries after whizzing about all ek doing everything :D

Have fun with the chickens. Mine are ace.

You'll read tons and tons of carp on poulty health .... the MSE chicken keepers top tips are as follows:

Worm monthly with 25ml of cider vinegar in 1l of water (63p a bottle in almost any supermarket as opposed to £15 for Vermex from a farm supply shop)

Bung a couple of cloves of garlic in the water in summer to ward off flies and generally keep them healthy (cheaper than Battles Poultry Tonic)

Purchase ant powder with Permethrin as an active ingredient which can then be used to treat infestations of lice and outbreaks of red mite instead of the overpriced Farmyard stuff which is generally ten times the price **keep this away from cats though as its toxic to them!

Find some huge storage tubs as chicken feed is available in 25kg sacks at farm shops for marginally more than Pets At Home charge for a 3kg bag. These regularly turn up at car boot sales for a couple of quid and are rat proof.

    Morning peeps :hello:

Thanks for the tips moo2moo...i have already found somewhere to get feed from....i used to use them for the horses feed and they are the cheapest around :D As an added bonus they are across the road from the camping shop i use so i can bob in and have a look round their tent display :T sad i know but it keeps me happy....little things and all that :rotfl:

Working lunchtime......Last shift of the week

Shopping afterwards, will be going to sainsburys as i need coffee and my tastebuds are now accustomed to their own brand! With a budget of £10-£20 i will have to be very careful ...it should be doable as i just need fresh stuff  I ahve reduced the fuel budget to £15 so no extra trips this week and it should be enough to get me to work and back for the week!

Couscous and basics chicken tikka for tea with a glass of water as budget wont stretch to a bottle of wine :(

Picking DCs up from their dads in morning (he can't drive:mad:) and i think we will go to DGs and to help with chicken run preparation and/or dig over the veggie plot....its like having my own allotment but free and added bonus of toilet and kitchen :T

Oh and there is muttley to walk :D

Have a good day even if it is colder!

    Morning Spike,

Kids are getting picked up soon, so will crawl back to bed with the papers. Not very productive, I know. Have a great day. Bliss!:j

Not long after you phoned me to say that you were splitting up with my ex oh's brother! Needless to say they are very alike and we both seperated for very similar reasons.

So we both need to save up for all 7 of us to have a great time. Thats 2 adults and 5 kids (and several bottles of wine!) .
