the fact that barclays have agreed to honour my warranty themselves, i think, prooves that anyone who took out finance on their vehicles through autoquake, are entitled to the same from whichever finance company they have their agreement with.

I got a reply to my letter today, dont have full text with me but the finance arm of JD Concepts has said I should claim from MCR but if the claim is not forthcoming then if i continue to pay the direct debit then they will arrange a new warranty for me.

Massive backstep from thretening me with legal action and balifs

all claims with mcr could take months or even years to sort and there isnt a hope in hell and if they did pay out it would be pence in the pound. What happens in the mean time if you need to make a warranty claim? you need them to clarify this,,i think they are hoping you'll now just go away now.
  • I'm sad to hear they have gone into administration for both the people who will lose money and the staff who have lost their jobs. I bought a Mazda 6 2 years ago and it has been a fantastic car (and it was very well priced). I am lucky as I only had a couple of months of the warranty to run.

Well, good news for me. Having requested that my bank, smile.co.uk, action a Visa chargeback for my warranty a few weeks ago, I've just received the following message:
    Hello Mr Martin

I've got an update for you about the transaction for £839.

I've refunded your account, so the credit will take a day or two to show in your account. At the moment, it's all sorted out but if the retailer comes back to me with any further information proving the transaction may be genuine, I'll need to get in touch with you again.

Sorry for any problems this might have caused.

    Thanks

Fantastic news, and all sorted so quickly! I hope the chargeback system works as well for everyone else.

:( That's a pain. Hopefully they should be sympathetic and speedy once they get all the documents. Perhaps worth sending by registered post?

I thought I update you all

After sending more documentation to First Direct. They wanted the letter from MCR, warranty booklet, invoice and the details of the replacement breakdown cover.

I got a phone call from First Direct they done a pro rata refund (the reminder period left on the warranty) back to my credit card account. Actually they done a chargeback. Which is fair enough considering I managed to claim over £300 quid on it (new heated windscreen and thermostat). Also they refunded me the cost of arranging replacement breakdown cover. Apparently the merchant back got 60 days to respond to the chargeback but I doubt anything will come of it. The lovely lady on the phone told me she will contact me if anything comes of it.

    Hi,

I'm not sure yet. I bought a 2 year warranty on 6/12/10 . Pleased with the motor but the warranty loss was a pain.

I sent a letter claiming a chargeback a week ago and initially had a positive response asking confirmation the warranty was part of a larger transaction. They now say as the claim was made more than 60 days from the transaction they cannot do a chargeback

This conflicts with info I found here that says 90 from becoming aware of administration.

Any more info out there on dates etc please?
