Had a shaky night again. I can't wait until baby sleeps through.Although, probably because i could keep up with just breast feeding yesterday, so he wasn't bunged to bursting with formula, he managed to squeeze in an extra feed last night. Thanks for those of you encouraging me to persevere.
good news - DH found my BM paddle, which had been thrown in the bin. What a relief. Also, i had my marking feedback (from SAT marking in May/June) and it was good, so i will automatically get offered a contract for next year. Excellent news as i will not be paid from March onwards, so i'm planning to do extra to tide us over to september. Baby is now sleeping, so i've managed to sort out a few loads of washing, and will catch up a bit today.
bad news - the cat is poorly again, as i discovered when i stood in a pile of sick when i came downstairs to get a glass of water in the night. It will teach me to turn on lights and watch where i am going.
Happy birthday wishes (belatedly) to Chipps and Kiwichick.
Good luck RZL with the long anticipated move.
PP - enjoy your overnight break. Try not to worry too much about DH at the moment, as you don't know anything just yet, and it won't benefit your health either.
Going to go while the going is good, and put the next load in the WM and start peeling veggies to make a bottom of fridge and cupboard soup before we go away visiting the in-laws this weekend. First trip away overnight with Charlie, so fingers crossed i remember to pack everything we need. Although i am totally confused by how many clothes we may need as he has been so sicky this week.
Hugs to you all.
Michelle. xx

Well I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that today is MOVING DAY as PP already mentioned. Even if it is p**ing it down with rain  and I still haven't finished packing even though the removal van is coming at 9am  I haven't been TOO bad, the main thing left to be packed up is my main food cupboard.
The bad news is that my grandma finally died on Tuesday morning, peacefully in her sleep. A lot of you know that this is not really bad news at all - she was completely physically dependent on others and had been for some time. Anyway, funeral is next Wednesday up in the wilds of Northumberland.
Must get going. I doubt I'll be able to get back on here until Monday (depends when the phone gets connected, but Monday is when I'm next in the office).
Catch you all soon
Rzl xx

LearningToSave. wrote:Penelope Penguin......any chance of an idiots guide recipie for the pumpkin rissotto please?
have one i have to use and it sounds fantastic!!
Of course! It's not really a recipe, I got mine as a suggestion from Thriftlady, but have a go at this!
Cut your punpkin into large pieces (I can just about get my hands around mine, so cut into 4 or 8). Scoop out the seeds, put the flesh into a roasting dish, season, sprinkle with olive oil, and roast at gas 3 for about 45 mins until soft. When it's cool enough, peel off the skin, and chop into 2cm cubes.
While the pumpkin is cooking, prepare the rice. Sweat a finely chopped onion and some garlic in butter until soft. Stir in 350ml risotto rice, and cook for 2 minutes. Bring 1.2 litres stock to the boil and add a ladleful to the rice. Stir until the liquid is nearly absorbed, then add more stock. Continue until all used. Add pumpkin pieces, season to taste, serve with parmesan and salad.
Will put this onto the recipe thread.

loren83 & CCStar - Welcome both
Don't be shy about posting we were all newbies once (me not so long ago) but you will find everyone is really friendly and welcoming. :AYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
Hi everyone and welcome to all newbies!
Been busy little bee today and have done a white load, made the beds and hoovered throughout. Also tidied up, cleaned the sink and loo which I do everyday and all kitchen surfaces wiped over. When I get back shall put the washing out. Also need to pick up some food on the way home so OH can make a pork goulash in the SC this eve whilst I'm out for our trip to his folks place on Sat.
Have just posted my recipe for quick sticky toffee pud on the recipe thread. It's very rich but if you like Thriftlady's choc one I think this could be in the same vein.
The small person is off to his Tudor banquet this pm. He wore his costume for us last night so we could take a photo. He looked gorgeous [proud Mummy moment] They're going to dancing to Tudor music this afternoon [with a gal so he won't think much to that!!], acting and reading some poems they've written. They then sit down to HM soup followed by cold chicken and bread. I don't ever remember history being such fun when I was at school!!
Have a great day everyone!

Thought i'd pop back in quickly.
Welcome to loren and ccstar. It's easy to get to know us. We aren't that scary.
well - one load of my clothes and two of Charlies done. We had a pleasant two hours of playing. I was sticking my tongue out at him, and then he was copying me. We also tried his playmat gym, and me reading a book to him. That is so much nicer than the grizzling.
He's now asleep again and i'm sat making a fuss of poorly kittie. I think he may have eaten something he shouldn't in the garden as he doesn't seem poorly any more.
I should be getting on with making my veggie soup for tea, and i'll encourage DH to spend some quality time with Charlie tonight so i can sort out some of my pre-pregnancy clothes to take away with us. It's one thing flashing my bum when i bend down at home or at my mums, but i shouldn't do it in polite company. :rotfl: I'm hoping they fit as i am not quite the same shape as before, but i'm nearly there.
Tomorrow will be interesting as i will need to take baby with me when i drop the 2 cats off at the cattery. It will be a car full, with cat boxes and car seat. I then may pop to the ASDA as it is nearby, and pick up some essentials for the start of next week as the cupboards are starting to look a little bare.

Hello again
Just a quick question really,
my next door neighbour has just popped round with some presents for us....
eggs, a curry (she's from the philippines & makes lovely curries) and . . .
a pheasant.
On the positive side, she has plucked and cleaned it, but....
I have never had pheasant & don't know how to cook it...
any ideas???0
