If you want to go to Barcelona on this deal in early May with a 20kg checked bag and priority boarding (to have any chance of sitting near your partner) it will cost you £70 per person, and you will be in Girona, about 100 kms away! The bus to your destination takes an hour and a half and costs EUR 21.

Altenatively you could go by BA from Heathrow with a 23kg baggage allowance, a reserved seat (and no scratchcards!) for £104.

    You pays your money .................

Most pre-paid cards charge you each time you use them or top them up.
Also, if you need to buy flights in a hurry before a deal expires, but don't have enough funds on your pre-paid card, you can expect to wait anything upto 5 days before funds are available. Not ideal.

Great find OP and a great alternative to pre-paid cards.

i have used fair fx for the last 15 months and have never waited any longer than ten minutes for funds to be accesable and there are no charges from fx for using it or for topping up the card

the only time fair f x charge is when you withdraw cash from an a t m machine in the country u are visiting
1.5 euros on the euro card
or $2 on a dollar card

Just booked with RA, can anyone tell me if they still require "advanced passenger info" for Spain?

I've checked the fair fx website and it says you get charged 1.4% per transaction.

I think I can endure that at £10 return to Spain. :rotfl:

    Ditto!
My return flight from Spain to Paris next month cost a grand total of £9! :rotfl:

Besides, they have excellent on time records and just about the newest aircraft out (plus my OH is one of their pilots so I always feel safe knowing that when I travel with him there are at least 3 qualified pilots on board!!!:D)

(Used a pre-paid mastercard as has already been mentioned here and by myself on a million other ryan air threads-sorry!)

Priority Boarding is in the section where you put your name in after buying.

And you can usually buy priority boarding at the airport, they are always keen to sell it!

I went to Barcelona a few days ago and it cost a grand total of £8 (one way). I carry 10kg in hand luggage so don't pay to check in a bag and don't have to wait at the carousel the other end (which also means there's no chance of my luggage getting lost as has happened to me before with BA)
I always sit next to my partner as we arrive early, we never buy priority boarding. Ryan air are currently doubling their aircraft based at Barcelona and reducing the amount at Girona so there's no need to fly into Girona if you want to go to Barcelona (Girona is more useful to those going skiing in Andorra or the south of France etc)

And seeing as Ryan air's on-time and lost luggage record is far better than BA's, not to mention their aircraft are newer, I'm quite content paying £100 less to go with Ryan air than BA. ;)

That sounds right, but is practically nothing when compared to paying £5 for each flight you book (£10 return) if you don't use one
