I cook pork shops alot, you really want to have them cook in some kind of marinade to keep them soft if possible. I cook 2 recipes, one you cook in the oven and the other in the pan so think both methods give similar results to be honest. They usually take 20-25 mins on a medium heat.
  • Thanks for the tip.

Any ideas of a quick and easy marinade on the grounds that ive left it late

  • I did myself a couple of pork chops I simply griddled them over a medium heat, added a bit of ground pepper and dried rosemary. About 5 minutes before hey were done I added a little bit of honey, very nice and quite tender.

Honey & mustard is nice, if you have any in?

Or olive oil, lemon juice & herbs. Or black pepper if you have no herbs!

I use a nice recipe, its one onion, one apple, balsamic vinegar and brown sugar.

You want about 1/4 sugar to the vinegar. I use cup measurements and i cup vinegar is what I make for this recipe. Put them in a saucepan and heat until the sugar is dissolved. Turn the heat off and put aside.

You cut the apple and onion into wedges, fry the onion on medium heat for 5 mins in some butter and then add apple and cook for another 5. Move them to the edge of the pan, turn heat up and add the chops. Cook for 2 mins on either side. Turn heat back down and add the glaze. Cook for 15 mins, turning halfway, if the glaze starts to dry up add some water or apple juice.

When its done take the meat, onion and apple out and reduce the glaze by putting on a high heat for a few mins until it coats a spoon nicely.

Its very easily and tastes delicious

I always do the same thing with pork chops, but it needs a few store cupboard ingredients.

    For 8 pork chops
    3 tablespoons soy sauce
    6 tablespoons vegetable oil
    3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    3 teaspoons lemon juice
    6 tablespoons brown sugar
    6 tablespoons ketchup
    8 pork chops

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a small bowl, thoroughly blend soy sauce, vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, and ketchup.

Marinate pork chops in mixture overnight (I usually make the sauce the night before, marinade in morning and then cook that evening)

Bake pork chops 1hour in the preheated oven.

This makes enough sauce to have over your rice as well as we don't like dry rice.

I tend to stick the pork chops in an oven proof dish and cover with campbells condensed mushroom soup and some sliced mushrooms, then bake.

Makes a yummy pork in mushroom sauce dish.
