Oops, forgot to mention that i'm tee-total. not a drop, so i was hoping that by cooking with the wine that all the alcohol content would disappear? I do have a bottle of red and white. Dunno what would be best but all alcohol needs to be gone.
Why do family insist on giving alcohol when they know i dont drink, you think they trying to tell me something? Could be entertaining watching me after a glass!"The journey of 1000 miles commenced with a single step"0 -
Hi sugarhunny1,
Have you tried afelia? Its a Greek dish, just soak the chops overnight in red wine and crushed coriander seeds. Next day fry an onion in olive oil and then throw the whole lot in, wine and all. Let it cook and simmer down until all the wine has evaporated and leave a sticky brown sort of caramelised residue, then its ready. Serve with bulgar wheat or rice and Greek yoghurt and a crisp green salad and crusty bread, its lovely!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I get this a lot. Bottles of wine as presents. I tend to get about 2 per year. I keep them and give them away as presents in the future. Although it can take me up to 2 years to find a worthy recipient.
I wouldn't try to cook with it to get rid of it. Just bung it in a cupboard (with the others) until I need either a quick pressie, or need to top up a smallish present with something a bit more substantial.0 -
I drink, you can chuck it my way if you want!Oh dear, here we go again.0

Hi Everyone,
I want to make pork chops tomorrow for lunch/dinner. The problem is everytime I have cooked them they taste bland and tough.
Please will you share your ideas about the best way to cook them? What about a marinade? Does anyone have a recipe that's not to technical?. I'm not a good cook at all but will be attempting Mrbadexamples chocolate cake recipe tomorrow. This thread is so useful!
Also what do you eat with pork chops?
Thanks all.0 -
Well, not everyone might agree but I've made this so many times. Try using pineapple pieces when cooking the pork chops, poke the chops a bit and let it soak before cooking them.
Also, you might want to consider cutting up mushrooms and onions and fry them with cut up potatoes (after they've been boiled), add spices and tada!Smile more often, it's FREE :hello: Live on £4000 for a year stalker!0 -
The best pork chop recipe ever that I stumbled across is now used by all my family and friends
Put some runny honey, soy sauce, mustard and chinese 5 spice powder (if you have any) together in a bowl equal amounts will do with about a teaspoon of mustard and five spice.
Mix together and marinade chops in sauce for at least 4 hours (overnight if possible)
Pour all contents into roasting dish and pop in oven gas mark 5 for 40 mins
You will not look back0 -
I brush mine with mustard then sprinkle with brown sugar and grill
I do them with jacket potato or mash and a few veggies0 -
I always put them in the frying pan on the lowest heat, cover and cook slowly, they always turn out nice and juicy.
Somtimes for a change i will cook as above then spead with a thin layer of apple sauce and add a bit of grated cheese and whack under the grill to melt the cheese.
We normally have chops with either boiled or mashed spuds and veg, mmmmm pork chops are one of my fave dinners.
whatever you do you MUST have gravy, i'm pretty sure there is a law about that......All comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Grill with cajan spice. Serve with corn on the cob, onion rings and green beans in cheese sauce." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
