I shouldnt have to explain my personal circumstances in detail, but is appears that some on this forum think im a lazy git who cant be arsed working!!

My wife Works, that is our only income so out of her £18,000 yearly wage we have to pay all household bills

I can not work full time due to various medical condtions, which include back problems, (I sometimes even have to kneel on the floor at the bathroom sinkto wash ), bending is my issue
I also suffer from Chronic Cluster Migraines which occur frequently and with no warning and affect me for up to 3 days at a time and I am occasionally bed bound with them, and the pain is extremly intense I take strong medication from my doctor for these
I also have dylsexia and Dyspraxia whic causes communication problems
I am seeking and wanting part time work but some of these conditions above if not all prevent me from the majority or roles.
Even if I try and look for work and secure employment my attendance could be a massive issue due to the above mentioned conditions

I havent worked for a while so my NI contributions arent up to date so doubt can claim on that basis, does this mean I am entitled to income based /means tested even though my wife has a full time job and earns £18,000 p.a

I want to go back to work as this dayt and age extra income helps. ESA looks the right step if someone could explain it, I have read the information, but if anyone has been through it I would be grateful of your input, I suppose I am frightened of which way to turn, I feel why can I not contribute to the household income.

also my wife has told me to write this and she is correct, I am a good house husband, I do all the house work(slowly as I struggle - in the job world you dont get the luxury of time) cooking, washing etc the only thing I dont do is the Ironing

OP, The reason people wanted to know the circumstances is then they know how best to advise you-not any other reason. I'm sure someone will be along who is nore knowledgable than me but it looks to me as if you could claim ESA. Get on to the DWP (if I'm wrong someone will correct me) to start the ball rolling. If you're really lost then go to CAB and they'll advise you.

And he doesnt issue you a sick note?????????
Do, you drive? Have you told the DVLA about this

A colleague of mine (once colleague) suffered these - terrible but she still teaches
I also have dylsexia and Dyspraxia whic causes communication problems

did you know that there are over 75% of people that suffer Dyspraxia and don't even know they do? There are so many succesful people that suffer from dylsexia - that is NOT a disablement nikt with computers

No you have so many problems how ever could you work???? That kind of puts me out of a job when I am better as I work with children with dylsexia and Dyspraxia
also my wife has told me to write this and she is correct, I am a good house husband, I do all the house work(slowly as I struggle - in the job world you dont get the luxury of time) cooking, washing etc the only thing I dont do is the Ironing

So be a house husband - no shame on that

Not with you but the fact that somewhere along the line you have been told that because you are dyslexic and have Dyspraxia you are NOT able to work!

So why the hell are we even bothering with kids with these problems???????????????

Melbi wants to know why she spends/spent so much time working with kids with Dyspraxia and dyslexia???????????????

If they are not classed as fit to work argghhhh!

    Give me strength

Migraines CAN be controlled (to a certain extent) An x colleague suffers them bad but is still able to hold down a full time job teaching

I'm just trying to understand why a person can't claim benefits of such, when all the diagnoses given do not suggest they are able to work

and yes I am unwell right now

    argghhhhhhh

IU've gone from the shallow water into the deep waiting to see if I am fit to work when I am not (YET)

You need to speak to your doctor. If your doctor thinks that you are too ill to work then he will provide you with a sick note and you can claim Employment Support Allowance. You can contact the DWP and fill out the basic paperwork over the phone then you'll get a claim form through the post.

If she doesn't think you are too ill to work then you won't get ESA.

Agreed Jowo. I'm more of a lurker, but Melbi is usually VERY supportive and helpful.

Melbi- please don't take me as patronising in any shae or form, but maybe go try and relax a bit for the rest of the evening. Sounds like you're really stressed and have had a stinking horrible day.
