why am not able to get help

my wife has a full time job earning 18000 a year, we rent and have all the useull bills ect, but i cant work for medical reasons, i am not aloud any benefits at all, no job seekers , no income support , no medial benefits ether, but my wife has just been told , she cant have no help on housing benefit or council tax help ether.

so why is there no help out there for me, plus is my wife earning to much to claim for housing benefit and council tax help.if so, isnt that not fair as well.

Are you not considered ill/disabled enough to claim ESA or DLA?

If you have care or mobility needs you should try for DLA.

If you can't work for medical reasons, the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) has replaced incapacity benefit. It is what people claim when they can't work due to ill health. Depending on what medical conditions stop you from working, you may be able to get this until your health improves.

ESA is an earnings replacement benefit for those who cannot work due to ill health and should not be affected by your wifes income, unless you have not paid enough NI contributions and have to claim income-related ESA (as far as I know). It is taxable income. My friend gets ESA & DLA, and her husband works full time earning about £25k.

You cant get job seekers as you arent seeking work
you cant get income support as your not a single parent or sick or disabled
Your wife earns too much to be entitled to housing benefit and council tax benefit. How is it not fair she earns too much to be entitled to it?

Double check your entitlements on the Turn2us online benefit calculator.

For means tested benefits, the state always assumes that a couple will support and assist each other, therefore the other partner's income is always taken into account.

were you working previously? Contributions based ESA is based on your NI contributions April 08-09 and April 09-10 and your wife's earnings will not affect that.
If you have insufficient contributions then your wife will be expected to support the household
