Did your husband get concerned with your need for weight loss? That seems quite common in relationships.

It was more to do with an increase in my confidence and assertiveness, and I began to question some aspects of our relationship. Also because I wasn't always eating the same as the rest of the family and foregoing the trips to the pub he felt like I was distancing myself. To be fair, he's never criticised me about my weight for which I am grateful.

I hate my weight. Every time I catch sight of myself in a shop window or whatever I just think 'ugh you fat cow' :(

I'm 5ft7, did weight 14st 3lb :eek:at one point in 2009 when the nurse at my GP surgery insisted on weighing me, I can't remember why now.

OH bought some new scales last month and I'm apparently now 12st 6lb which is better, but I still look the same!

I used to weigh 9st, those were the days.

I wanted to lose weight before my wedding last year in October, it didn't happen and I think I've put a stone on since then!

All the weight has gone back on since I was pregnant back end of 08 till May 09 when baby was born because I had SPD and couldn't get around. I'm a SAHM too, so plenty of opprtunities to eat and scoff left overs!

Since Monday I've cut out white bread and butter. Instead I'm having WW malted bread plain. I'm knocking out all bad snacks, so no chocolate and crisps (boo hoo!). I've knocked juice and pop in the head and been drinking water (I don't drink hot drinks at all) but the only downfall with that is that I can't stop peeing lol

I'm not hungry and I don't mind cooking and buying the usual treats for the rest of the family.

    Eat !!!!!! = feel like !!!!!!.
    Eat good = feel good.

It's true too, I would normally go to bed about 1am and be knackered in the morning, then knackered all day, whereas now I'm going to be at 11pm (3 nights on the trot now, go me!) and getting up between 6.30-7am and feeling fine all day!

I was going to join slimming world but then thought why waste the money going to a class, when all the recipies and food ideas are available on the net? With the money I'd pay for a class each week, that would buy me £5 worth of healthy food!

I'm determined to keep up with it this time, the little man will be starting pre school next Sep (2012) and I deffo don't want to be known as the 'fat mum'!

    .

I also love my food and don't believe in faddy diets, but Weight Watchers is helping me with portion control and highlighting just how bad for you some stuff (ie. all the stuff I graze on) is!

They have changed their points system recently and now count both fruit and veg as zero points. So I can eat normal meals (although it's spag bol without the garlic bread for example), snack on fruit and still have some points left over for chocolate / alcohol. Fingers crossed this will refocus me and once I shift the weight it'll stay off!

    .

Watch the small print! It says elsewhere that, although zero pointed, fruit has a claorie count and should be eaten with caution! So you can, as one of my friends did, put on weight by "only snacking on fruit and that's zero points"

ive just been shopping and bought no fatty things and low calorie bread. Its hard when all the choc and cake are screaming out at you and all the deals are on the fattening things. But well hey got to cut down abit.

In one shop you have cakes screaming out buy me and in another you have magazines promoting this diet and that one. Ha ha.

Red Devil, I felt the same as you in january and was around the same weight (13 st 7lb). I've tried lots of things before but the thing that is really working for me at the moment is weightwatchers.

I'm now 12 stone and it has taken very little effort. It seems a bit of a faff at first counting the points, but in fact tracking all your food for a few weeks is really helpful in identifying what your eating problems are (I've realised with me it is alcohol - so am trying very hard to limit it just to social occasions). I now eat very healthily (and loads) but always have a treat every day (usually a curly wurly in my case lol).

Here's what I had yesterday for example:

Breakfast: banana, mushroom omelette, butternut squash chips and peas, coffee

Snack: apple, laughing cow cheese triangle

Lunch: seafood and thai sweet chilli noodles, grapes

    Snack: 2 minimilk icecreams

Dinner: Home-made veggie shepherds pie with peas, carrots and broccoli

    Snack: curly wurly

I think I was under my points limit for the day by 2 points even though you can see I stuffed my face!

I only went to 4 meetings and now am not due to expense, but there are very good free online resources such as minimins, and also a weightwatchers thread on mumsnet forums which are really helpful in terms of staying on track.

A friend of mine has had success with Slimming World too so it's all about finding what's right for you - I do think you might need the sort of structured approach of a WW or SW at first to get you on track.

    Lol, I know, I'm a piggy. :)

Usually up at 7am with DD - don't have any playgroups etc till 10ish so plenty of time to cook something delish. Of course if I was working it might be different!

I eat a banana or apple immediately i get up to kickstart metabolism, and so fruit is the first thing in my system. Then half hour later I'll have something more substantial.

When I eat like this the weight falls off easy. But if I have a party weekend where I've drunk too much it falls apart (drunken food decisions/hangover cravings for pizza etc). Bread and alcohol really slow down my weightloss, so i eat loads of other stuff instead.

I think there is a sw support thread on mumsnet forums too, and on minimins - do try it as it really helps to pick up hints and tips from others who are doing the same thing as you.
