anyone else fed up with their weight.

A few years ago i was 13 stone and went on the slimfast diet and cut out alot of fatty foods too. I lost 2 stone and felt much better. I stuck with the diet for quite a while but as soon as i stopped it i started putting the weight back on and relaxing my eating?

I know seem to be getting on for 14stone. I feel awful about it. My bras have started to get tight and i know i must do something. I have only had them a few months. I dont know how to keep my weight at a good level. Its such a nuisance going up and down in weight. Bras change and clothes fit then dont. I seem to be more now than when i started my diet.

Anyone else find it a constant battle and anyone got any tips! I also feel abit embarrassed as i had lots of compliments when i lost weight and i think what are people thinking now. I am 5ft 8 by the way.

    Hi

Yes! 10 years ago I was two stone lighter than I am now. I loose a few pounds, then binge and put it back on.

I joined weight watchers last night to hopefully spur me on. I have a condition which makes some exercise difficult but I'm determined to try.

I had a shock a few weeks ago tring clothes on in next and saw a load of back fat! That has to go :(

    Try this: www.weightlossresources.co.uk

Also there is a Lose Weight thread on Martin's site under 'I wanna....' https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3018332

The Slimfast diet is useless because it teaches you nothing about healthy eating, which is really what you want to know.

  • Hello!

I lost a lot of weight between my pregnancies but since DS was born it's just stayed on and crept on. I think smoking between pgs helped with that weightloss but although I'm tempted to start again I WILL NOT give in to that temptation. Oh, if only things weren't so tasty...
And I'm there with you both with the bras and the backfat too

    but food is sooooooooooooo good!!!!!!

I kept 3stone of lard after having DD3.. I lost 2.5 stone a few years ago and still didn't fit in smaller clothes and my boobs just got bigger and bigger... so i quit with that idea.. left my weight to stabilise itself and still fit in the same clothes.

So at 9.5 stone I was a size 16.. and at 12 stone I was still a size 16.. and after having the baby and being 12st10 I was STILL a size 16... it seems pointess trying to change anything.

  • Me!!!!

I had a crappy relationship break up about 4 years ago, lost 3 stone, have have put every single bit back on (since in happy relationship). I've got a wardrobe full of clothes from 12 - 16 (nearly 18)! I have given up chocolate, crisps and biscuits for lent and can already see a very small difference in around my face.

Have decided enough is enough. Tried WW, and lost 2 pounds, put on half a pound, lost 1 pound, put on half, blah blah.. and got fed up. Last time I went I'd put on again.

I need to sew my mouth up. seriously.

The Slimfast diet is useless because it teaches you nothing about healthy eating, which is really what you want to know.

I agree with MargaretClare, you need to adopt a sensible, long-term way of eating, not just replacing 2 meals each day with shakes until you reach your ideal weight.

    Have you considered Slimming World?

I followed the plan (I borrowed my sister's books but didn't go to the classes as I had all the will-power I needed) and went down from almost 11 stone to 8 stone 3lbs. I'm about 8stone 10lb at the moment but have just come back from 3 weeks holiday so I'm ready to get back into the red day/green day eating plan and to start excercing regularly

Depending on how you feel, you can either eat lots of pasta, rice potatoes or lots of meat.
I have lots of my own recipes that I can adapt to fit in with the SW plan.

Now's the time to 'nip the weight gain in the bud' before it gets too bad.

    Good luck.

I could never cope with the 'eating plans' style things because I don't or can't eat any of the stuff suggested.. I found it was all too oily or spicy or salady.. salad kills me. I can't eat many fruits and while I love veg there is so much you can do with a carrot!

I did try WW briefly.. and lived on toast and jam and jaffa cakes.. that was DULL.. I did the same a shouldstopspending and would lose 1lb and gain 0.5 back.. it is totally disheartening

I am unhappy with my weight - I said to DH only the other evening that there's probably about 2 and a half stone of me that he's not actually legally married to :eek:

I go to the gym, I eat healthily, I tried to persuade my doctor I have a thyroid problem - but nothing! I've done WW in the past but also have the lose a pound, put one back on scenario so don't consider it very MSE. I also hate the fact that periodically they write to me basically saying "You're probably fat again so come back and give us some more money" - even they don't believe diets work !

So - plan for the year is to watch my weight, up my activity (I sit at a desk all day so it's about getting me moving more and not just the gym), cut down on my alcohol intake (only drink now at weekends so probably technically a binge-drinker :o) and just not eat rubbish.
  • Had issues with my weight since late teens when I swapped athletics and cross country for drinking, smoking and being ferried around by boyfriends with cars. I gained a lot of weight with my first pregnancy and it never went - 2 other pregnancies I gained no weight at all which was good but was already fat.

Two and a half years ago I got to the heaviest I'd ever been and it was starting to affect my health. I managed to lose 8st and was the lightest I'd been in about 20 years. Only trouble was it started to affect my relationship with my husband and without going into details, things got pretty bad, so I gave it up.

Fast forward to now, I've put 5 of the 8st I lost back on and I've reached that lightbulb moment again so I'm back on it and already lost a stone. I have the incentives of a 30yr school reunion in August, a friend's 40th birthday weekend in Spain in September and a wardrobe full of clothes I can't fit into spurring me on at the moment. Any issues that crop up with hubby I'm more prepared for this time. I'm seldom hungry tbh, so clearly I eat for other reasons.
