  • i'm having probs with O2 - my phone is wifi and gps disabled yet every month I am being charged for downloads and browsing. Their answer is for me to add a bolt on at an extra charge which will cover my browsing and downloads. So... pay for something which I don't want to stop me paying for something I don't use? huh?

If you've got a smartphone you have to RTFM.
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It uses free satellites signals, not mobile internet.
WiFi connects your phone to router(s) that use landline internet. It is free if it is your home router or some free WiFi hotspot. Disabling WiFi doesn't stop your phone from using Mobile Data that you get charged for. It has the opposite effect actually: the phone keeps connecting to the pay-for the mobile internet even if it can connect to a free WiFi instead.

If you don't use mobile internet switch Mobile Data (Mobile Internet) off, otherwise your prone keeps using it without asking you.
  • My wife has had an Orange contract for over 2 years. The handset she first selected broke after about 15 months, which was outside of the warranty period, so she was advised to buy a PAYG handset and transfer the SIM. This she did, but when the 18 month contract was close to completion, she contacted Orange to see what deals were on offer, but was told that her contract term was re-set when she replaced the phone (even though it was inoperable). Does anyone have a similar issue or know if this is acceptable practice?
  • that doesnt sound right if u buy your own phone the contract just carris on are u sure she didnt sign up for a new contract instead

Unfortunalty the cause is your house move, so Vodafoen don't have to offer you an escape route.

You can try asking them for a SureSignal which can use your broadband and let you at least use the phone in the house.

I have lots of sympathy for people who's circumstances change and they have signed a contract.
However you must remember that a 12/18/24 month contract is legally binding. This is not an agreement between two mates in the school playground.
I am amazed at how many people don't understand this and have to find out the hard way.
Remember also the market can change and just because you have a contract coming to an end does NOT mean you will be offered a deal just to keep you as a customer. Your and the suppliers obligation END at the end of the contract and not before.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Grey area. Check vodafones coverage map. Do they say they cover the postcode and provide a decent signal?

If they do and you have moved into standard type of house then you may be able to argue that you are not being provided a reasonable service.

  • Hi guys

I am trapped in a 2 year T-Mobile contract with a terrible deal. I have only 1 year left, but I am not happy with the phone and deal, and I am definitely being ripped off.

I have a Blackberry Curve 9360, and I am getting 100 minutes, 100 texts and 500mb data allowance, I also have a flexible booster which is for the internet.

Along with the BB services I am paying £21 or so, I am not happy, I have seen a Samsung Galaxy S3 for £20 a month with an online deal. 300 minutes, unlimited texts and free phone, granted it is a 2 year contract, and I am on benefits I have had no trouble paying for 2 and a half years contract on T Mobile, had a Curve 8520 for 18 months before, and took an early upgrade 6 months early, big mistake.

Also I am not happy with the signal, it keeps getting worse even in 3G, especially when I am in narrow areas, I get SOS cant get any signal.

Is there a way I can get out of this awful contract without paying extortionate costs, buying out my contract etc as I am being ripped off, I have tried UK Cellswapper but the site isn't working and I know when they find a match to buy my contract out they charge

    Blessings this holiday season

    Garry
