AnxiousMum, the more I hear of the Canadian system off you, the more attractive it seems:) Why on earth can we not adopt a similar system here, it just seems fairer all round!!

    School records – parental access
What if I am a single parent, or if I am divorced or separated?
If your child is living with you and you have the responsibility for the day to day care and education of that child, access to pupil records can be made as described earlier. A natural parent also has right of access to their child's records even if the parent does not live with the pupil concerned. This includes an unmarried parent and a divorced or separated spouse.
If the child is living with you and you do not want certain information disclosed, for example the home address, the parent should notify the school. Then, if the Headteacher / Governors of a school are approached by an estranged or ex-partner, they will contact the parent responsible for the child before giving out any information that may be confidential.

This is outrageous!!!!! Surely if there is no violence, abuse etc, and it's just a bitter PWC messing about, the judge - especially if there is a court contact order - should make the CSA disclose the new address. Far too many PWC's get away with ignoring contact orders, with no comebacks. A "normal" father should not be scrabbling away trying to find out where his kids are. That cannot be right surely????

I totally agree with you. it's disgusting that the pwc's can get away with playing the system like some of them do. There should be a rule that if an order is in place the pwc has a duty to tell the court if they move and update their address and other relevant details so that NRP's don't have to go through this. As anxious mum says, the longer the children and NRP don't see each other the more chance of the pwc using this as a further barrier for witholding contact.

I can't imagine moving or even changing my phone number without telling my NRP. Awful. Unless it's for protection from violence, I think an NRP should be able to find out where their children live.

If an ex of mine proved to the school there was a contact order and he had PR I would expect the school to give him details-this is all hypothetical of course because i wouldn't be in that position. I think it's very sad when a pwc deliberately hides their children from the NRP in a vindictive manner so they can't have access-they aren't depriving just the nrp they are depriving their child and any pwc who does this obviously does not have their children's best interests at heart.
Further more I disagree that as rule of thumb it is deemed in the best interests of the child that they live with the mother after relationship breakdown-the best interests of the child is just that-and a mother does not automatically make a better parent than a father-and children need contact with both.

My main worry would be why the mother has chosen to hide! What exactly is she hiding? A definite case for SS to investigate. If my OH did that, I'd be very concerned for the child's welfare and would be voicing my concerns to the right authority.

All the above is assuming no new court orders have been issued.

DO you have parental responsibility? Could you not ask the old school for details of the new school your children now attend? Or do you know any of the parents of friends of your children who you could ask?

This was the best lead I have. The school says they were removed from the school over a year ago and seemed unable to provide me with leads to follow.

I have parental responsibility under the Child Support Act. I also have parental rights under the 2006 amendment of Children Act 1989 (Name on birth certificate, married to childrens mother at birth etc)

Just noticed - why are you paying 30% for two children? Should it not be 20% plus a discount because you have one child within your household? Is it a private arrangement or is this through CSA?

Sorry yes, its 20% but it was originally 30% but I was late in making a change of circumstances and the CSA wouldnt back date it to my daughters birth. They chose to keep the money.

Unfortunately we only have one side of the story but -speaking from experience- some pwc's are just vindictive and will go to any lengths to try and keep a loving nrp away from their child/children. :(:mad:
But yes SS should be informed to ensure the children are safe
