"I went to PC world to buy a new keyboard last week, because they are cheap for some things."
Agreed, cheap for some things, otherwise, I'd stay clear.0 -
I've been telling people for years not to shop at PC World / Dixons / Currys but people are gluttons for punishment!!!
They have tried it on with me many many times and failed badly, but people with less knowledge of consumer law (although I am far from an expert) would be ripped off by these clowns left right and centre.
Anyway glad you got sorted OP!

comet are just as bad, bought a hotpoint washer from them and it came with a 60 day replacement guarantee if it broke but as comet had bought the rights to the warranty from hotpoint and fixed issues with their own team they wouldnt honour that part of the warranty when it broke. Had a battle and they gave in in the end.
Now buy everything from a local small store which is part of the Euronics group of small retailer and they price match including web and deliver free. Excellent service and wouldnt give comet or the big companies again.0 -

I'm just this second going to return a wireless router that 'doesn't do what it says on the box' (i.e. work with my NTL broadband subscription).
Wish me luck then.....0 -
We bought a 32" old style television approximately one year ago, and the volume has not worked properly for about the last three months - you put it at a comfortable volume and it will be OK for a few minutes and then decide every so often to deafen you. They have so far been out four times trying to fix it, including turning up without the bit they were scheduled to fit. We are now waiting for them to take it away to try and find the problem. They will not give us any idea how long it will take nor loan a replacement, so it looks like we could very easily be without a TV over Christmas and New Year with a 6-year old. Could be fun!!! I am trying to find out how many times they can try to repair before they replace, but seems to be no definitive answer because it still works.
We bought the TV when Currys were stopping doing the larger screen old style TVs because we could not afford an LCD, and I think that is part of the problem as it is not a current stock item. Also, the repair people appear to be in such a rush - the first one would not even switch the TV on afterwards to see if it worked, the others are taking longer but they try one thing and leave it at that even if it has not fixed it. It is very annoying because each time one of us has to take the day off work, and once they did not come, which is also why we have not had them come on consecutive days/weeks.
If anyone knows anything about the standard or extended warranty and can advise I would be very grateful - we took out the extended warranty recently because we knew that it was not fixed to ensure that we were still covered.0 -
I had the same problem with Currys when trying to get an exchange for my 9 month old failing vacuum cleaner. I described the problems we were having with vacuum to the staff and the manager and all they could do was supply us with a telephone number for their helpline to arrange a pick up. I told them that I need a vacuum cleaner today and I cannot take time off work to wait for a pick up. I was left with no choice but to wait for a pick up or to buy a new one. I ended up buying a Dyson which came with a 5 year guarantee as standard. Hopefully I wont have any problems for at least a few years and I can avoid the horrid customer services at Currrys.0

hi, I am sure with the coverplan if they cant fix it you should be offered a replacement. I would contact masterplan because it is unreasonalble for them to expect that you go without a tv for a few weeks.0 -
Report the store to trading standards: your County Council will have the department's postal address and email.
Compose a calm email to Trading Standards which not only points out Curry's failure to behave as a responsible retailer, but also the physical harassment you suffered.
When you've done that, post a hard copy of the email to the manager of the store, and also to Curry's head office.0
