Why some people think CarGiant are overpriced rubbish
I was thinking about all the times I have mentioned CarGiant and I am thanked for this advise with abuse, that I either work for them or that they are overpriced due to the fact you have to a £91 Admin Fee.
As Ill Health retirement looms ever closer I have done some research as I may go back to doing chauffeur work, as I also like to buy British if possible i did a little research into the prices of cars I would like to use.
I am not buying just seeing how the land lies for the future, best to see what is coming rather than be caught by surprise.
The is a car from the Jaguar Approved List, you will almosy certainly get a nice coffee, and have salesman fawning over you.

Can't get this link to work, but the equivalent car was £19900. At Swindon Jaguar.
But if you go to CarGiant, you have to sign for the keys, maybe they don't fawn as much as you would like, plus when you come to collect your car it is more like a Car Auction than a Car Dealer.
http://www.cargiant.co.uk/Jaguar/details-492529-Jaguar.asp?viewtype=0
This car has a 2 thousand extra miles, but is up for £17499 plus £91 so £17690, against £19900.
These cars are almost the same in every way, but personally I would rather save over £2000 and go to CarGiant.
Can somebody explain why somebody said they only sell overpriced rubbish?
After owning our Clio DCi for 16 months, similar cars at renault dealers, 56 plate 5 Dr Expressions, are still more than we paid for ours 16 months ago at CarGiant, after checking the paperwork it was £5790, or £5699 plus £91 admin fee.
Now I come to think about it, if those that slag off CarGiant continue to do so then it just leaves better choice for me.

I will buy from any company that is capable of providing me with a bargain. I don't care who they are.
Car Giant, like some other companies are better than buying a completely unknown prospect from an auction.
I think I may give Trade Sales of Slough a go next time.0 -
Thanks for that Inactive, I knew you wouldn't let me down with some one liner drivvel.
Funny how your posts are always thanked by the same people most of the time, do you have more than profile and then thank yourself all the time.
Nope, only the one profile.
Oh and it is " Drivel " with one V, you should know that, you spout enough of it.
Extract from a What Car Review of Car Giant;
PART-EXCHANGE
Getting a part-ex value was a long-winded process. We got a form from the salesman, then had to take it to another part of the site so the value could look at our car. We were offered a low £4500 for our Mondeo.
TEST DRIVE
Test drives were available and we were told we could have one, but our salesman disappeared to look after other customers and then didn't come to find us. We waited for 40 minutes, then got bored.
CONDITION
The condition of the cars wasn't great. They had been cleaned, but we saw quite a few scrapes and scratches. We were also appalled that the car we were considering had been damaged and badly repaired, lowering its value. No mention was made of this on the car's details.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Our visit to Car Giant wasn't quick. By the time we'd looked around, found a salesman, waited for a test drive, got a value for our trade-in and a finance quote, we had been there for three hours.
Salesman Riaan was friendly, but the issue of the test drive was annoying, and he didn't seem too enthusiastic to close a deal with us. The fact that the Focus we looked at had been repaired badly was also a serious concern.
Verdict
A giant selection of cars, but laid-back sales staff and the crash-damaged car were a turn-off.

A lets take the opinion of a biased online review, nothing worse than the opinion of somebody that knows nothing.
One big reason for the lack of testdrives for all is simply that with a stock of 3 or 4 thouand cars you have no room for joyride junkies that you get at most other dealerships.
It is simply a policy bourne out of necessity.
Or do you think it might not be a bit time consuming and costly to give every casual viewer a test drive, actually try and get a test drive at any dealer, it isn't as easy these days as some think.
Plus the cost of the testdrives would have to be added to the car prices, that isn't very MSE now is it!0 -

What does that mean, oh, right your last crappy comment met with a proper answer, you don't like that so you are trying to divert the subject.
Aren't you the perspon that going by your previous post you think people should stop working and go on benefits rather than claim their paid for and entitled pension benefits, plus working so as not to have to claim off the government.
I am entitled to benefits now, but won't claim them until there is no option, entitlement isn't the only consideration when thinking about benefits, you must also consider wether you actually need them or can find another way to survive without them.
I take it you have the same attitude to those that claim off their Car or Home Insurance, as that is basically what a Pension is, not just accrued benefits for old age, but when you pay a lot of money into a good plan you also have a chance to retire if your health fails. So it forms a kind of Insurance policy, much in the same way as a critical illnes policy would be.
So, what was your opinion on CarGiant again, or are you going to continue with your pointless beligerant comments.
If you hate the forum so much then why post here.0 -

The day I listen to the opinion of journalist with less knowledge and experience with cars than i do is going to be a long time coming.
The trouble with the internet is that much like wikipedia the information is only as good as the person putting it up.
Then again, I know hundreds of people that rely on their car to earn a living and the smart money always goes to CarGiant, why do you think they are the only dealer in London that I know of that has a specialist Private Hire driver section, they saw how many people bought their to use the car for work, so have brought in new facilities to grow their business.
I just want to ensure that people are not put off by internet tittle tattle but can actually read an opinion based on experience gained over 20 years, rather than somebody that went there once and never ever bought a car.
But then some people should really stay in the main dealer network as they just get confused by places like CarGiant.
Thoug if I can make sure people don't go to CarCraft or similar places then my job is done.
The problem is these big car supermarkets have been trying to get business from the reputation of CarGiant , which is probably why they changed their name from Great Trade Centre a few years ago, as "Trade Centres" popped up all over the South of England, all selling overpriced crap.0 -
Don't forget , that the price on the screen at Jaguar is 'negotiable' so you would expect at least £900 off, you will not get a discount at Car giant. And for all you MSE's you would get a lot more being the savvy lot that you are...making the difference a lot closer than 2k0

Don't go to Trade Sales in Slough they have a bad reputation, have had for years and where prosecuted for selling Opels as Vauxhalls a few years ago.
I have mentioned it before but the only Car Supermarkets with a good reputation, based on years of individuals and companies buying cars and fleets of cars for high mileage work, are Fords Of Winsford, Motorpoint and CarGiant.
FoW and Motorpoint have more low mileage and under a year old cars, CarGiant has the cheaper ex fleet cars.
CarCraft and Trade Sales Slough are not much different, though TS are sometimes OK on price.
There is a very good reason that CG are one of the busiest dealers in London. We are talking about hundreds of cars sold a week, all year round.0
