OS Daily Monday 14th March

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 14th March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Can't sleep so I thought I'd start the thread, The meal went well yesterday from a food point of view. SIL is doing something so stupedously stupid I can't talk about it without rage induced panic attacks. I may post in detail when I have calmed down a bit.
I need to get in the shower before I do hubby's breakfast, packups are already done & the fish are still asleep & don't need feeding yet.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning Everyone!

I had a lovely weekend, very busy Saturday, very lazy Sunday!

Today is work (Joy!) only 3 weeks left (can't wait now!)

Pork Chops for dinner tonight, the butcher cut HUGE slabs of meat, so that will be nice (if not near impossible to actually eat!)

Went on the scales again this morning for my Monday weigh in... am pleased that I lost another 1.5lbs and that I am now 'officially' lighter then I've been in over 10 years! OMG scary yet happy thought :D
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Good morning Hester and all to follow,
Oh dear Hester that sounds awful. Hugs to you x

Clear but freezing here atm and rain is forecast for later. Think I will get a wash out though and chance it. If it looks ominous at lunchtime I'll drape it round the house.

Working this afternoon so need to have a go at the bomb site here this morning.

Dinner will be smoked haddock fishcakes with chorizo and ratatouille.

My heart goes out to the people of Japan and the nightmare they are facing.

Have a safe Monday folks, hugs to those who need or want them, Silver x

    Morning all:j:j

Morning hester, i glad that im not the only one up :p

Well im sorry to upset everyone but someones got to say it, The weekend is over:eek::eek: Its the start of a brand new week!

Cold here and there has been a hard frost.

Not much to say reallly this morning. Iv got a steak and kindey pie for my lunch. Pluss the fruit that i take.

Dinner tonight will be some of the left over beef from yesterday. Im thinking of doing it with some homemade BBQ saurce.

Iv got the news on and somne of the photos and video thats come out of Japan of the lst few days is amazing!!! but not in a nice way.!
Im looking at it as its amazing that the northan part of the contry is when you think about it not really there any more:eek: whole towns have gone and the people in them. I would say that the final bill to rebuild is going to be in the hundrad of billions maybe in the trillions.

But the people cost is going to be huge. There PM has said that its there hardest time since WWII and looking at the photos if you turned them into black and white one you would think that you were looking at ones from that time.
Its on the news that even tokio is now starting to run out of food!
There have been over 200 after shocks:eek: some as big as .6:eek:

But is the worset still to come?

Try and have agood day all. There is all sorts of unknows going on around the world and no matter how bad we think our lifes are there are many many that would like to be us:)

    Enjoy:j:j

    Morning hester and everyone else

Sorry your SiL is causing you grief - families can be such pains, can't they?! :( Hope it's something you can whinge to us about later.

Very cold and frosty here, been awake since about five, but only got up at 6 cos I'm so tired.

Tons of ironing to do, beds to strip and wash, and get all clean stuff put away - we can't sit on either sofa as they're full of clean washing!:rotfl:

Also got to pay extra council tax today (nearly £170!). Long story, but basically we got our house re-banded as B several years ago, now they've decided it was a "mistake" and have put us back up and we have to pay a bit extra - swines haven't even redone it to the start of the new council tax year! I'm going to appeal the whole thing, but it stinks of a money-making venture to me! *deep breath!*

Anyway, the sun is shining, no rain, our house is still over our head and we can JUST about manage financially for a few months before I REALLY need to hit the panic button! :D

Hope you all have some sunshine today, see you later and hugs to all.

    A xo

BB - Happy Birthday, hope you have a good one x

Foggy, with sun trying to shine, but very frosty here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Didn't even hear him get up this morning. Think the lack of sleep on Friday night finally caught up with me and I had an undisturbed night last night, feel better this morning. Didn't get up this morning for running as leg been aching since Friday again not sure where to go from here, may just see how I go day to day.

Boys played Rugby yesterday morning, both had matches, DS1 lost their match but ref was from the other team and a few of the decisions were a bit suspect! but it was only a friendly, does them good now and then to know they need to work hard to get the wins! DS2 was at a festival so lots of teams, they lost 2 and drew 2 - so they were filthy but had had a good day.

We went to friends for late dinner as they have just moved, lovely house, great meal, good wine and best friends, no better way to end the weekend, except perhaps no work on Monday!

Hairdresser coming tonight to cut DH and boys hair. Have got potatoes already peeled for tonight's dinner, so easy dinner as I'm working today.

    Better get myself into gear.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning chaps and chapess's :D

    Cold, but sunny today here.

Need to get DC to school, should be back by 9.45 ish. Then will need to sort paperwork, dishwasher, load washing machine, fold washing and put away and sort socks. Need to finish sorting the food cupboard, I'm halfway through now. It's amazing how much stuf I have had to chuck that was lurking at the back and was at least 2 years out of date+. Then I need to start on the landing as it has become a bit of a dumping ground. Then it will be time to go and pick up the boys again.

    Morning all!

Plans for today involve going through my bank statements and looking at saving money on insurance and utilities. Then I have an hosp appt with the consultant about Spud's delivery, my other four have arrived so fast that they want to discuss a caesarian or induction so that I'm not on my own when I give birth! Not keen on a caesarian unless it becomes a medical necessity, so want to discuss induction and how far in advance they'll want to do it to ensure that they beat me going into labour naturally! Quite looking forward to it though, well not the pain bit, but having a date!

Also need to do the usual dw, wm, S&S, hoovering and binning of the weekend's accumulated junk!

Working today as well, but it's my short day, so not too bad! And must remember to collect dd2 from swimming tonight, at least now the evenings are getting lighter it doesn't seem quite so bad doing a 16 mile round trip - oh the joys of living in the country!

Lunches were ham sarnies, dd2's choc muffins, fruit and cheese.

Dinner - can't remember what was on the menu plan, best have a looksee soon!

Time for a cuppa and a catch up, have a good day all xx

    Bargainbird - good luck!

    Bitsy - Happy birthday!

Hester - argh families! I have a friend who is doing something I think is monumentally stupid, but I'm biting my tongue having already said I didn't think it was a good idea months ago, we now have an unspoken agreement not to discuss it!
