I think the number of people milking Tesco at the moment (ie: us) is quite small, most people just can't be bothered, they think you can save only 20p.
The main point of their campaign is send a message out that they are cheaper than ASDA, regardless whether this is true or not."Retail is for suckers"

No it won't work, most ISPs in the UK offer a dynamic IP address which means you're not neccessarily going to have the same IP each time, I do because I used a premium ISP but the likes of BT, Virgin, Plusnet etc all give you a dynamic IP address. All recording IPs is going to do is show you which ISP the majority of people claiming are on it won't prove anything (with the only aside being if the same IP submits receipts in a short space of time but that could be something like a business anyway)
Not to mention the cost of implementing this and automating it to capture IP to the "order" for the probable negligble benefit.0 -

Well, you just disconnect your modem for ten seconds to get a new IP number (unless you have a static IP). No, this would be too unreliable.

Earlier on in the thread someone took the voucher to CS and acted stupid and got cash.... could be worth a try.... or even worth trying to buy a gift card and see?

just been on the phone to tesco and you could be waiting 2-5 days to get the results as they have a backlog they say they are training more staff (I think they should have had the process completely automated)0

while we are making the most of a good deal within the t&c of the offer, I got told that there are some people who are creating fraudulent vouchers and spending them over and over (not buying any overpriced goods at all).
Any remember the 30% off Gap vouchers which got amended to say 90% off
Maybe they are trying to fix this problem.0 -

I see what your saying and yes I can see how it would punish people doing normal shops but Tesco has to safegaurd it's business.
Can you imagine doing one huge shop, getting £100 back on a DTD voucher. Going in to Tesco, spending the £100 vouch and £20 cash on the same stuff, getting another £100 back and doing it all over again, making adjustments as Tesco change their offers. I don't think Tesco can afford to do this. Yes they could avoid this by matching Asda prices but they would lose money and what would the point be of matching Asda in all seriousness? Having 2 supermarkets with the same prices.....where's the competition?
I think this promotion is very clever and it's genius marketing. There will be deliberate items (such as Baileys) which are higher priced than Asda. The ultimate goal is to get the customer into your shop, once you have them in your shop the chances are they are going to spend their money. Quite a few people have already stated that Tesco wouldn't usually get their money but because of this they have spent more and not just on DTD shops, but on normal shops too.
I am assuming that the majority of people do a major shop once a week or once a month. Now, with this promotion at Tesco people are going to think, right, lets go to Tesco because of the DTD, my normal shop can't be any more expensive than Asda so what's the point in going there to get those things, so Mr T has taken business away from Asda and this is exactly what they want. They want to be the biggest, best supermarket in the UK and the only way to do that is to take customers away from Asda.....their main rival!0
