ipoints

Options
I've heard ipoints mentioned quite a few times on these boards and I was wondering if anyone would please give me a brief explanation of the ipoints site (ie, what benefits can be gained from it, how it works - that sort of thing)?

  • Hi wotnext

ipoints is a loyalty programme, a bit like nectar, where you can earn points for shopping online, and also for taking up other offers. They have a catalogue of gifts and vouchers that you can claim when you have enough ipoints.
    here is their catalogue

Most of the big online retailers are represented, including amazon, which some other cashback sites don't have.
Here is the directory of sites you can shop at

There are also a load of free offers, like brochures, surveys and competitions which won't cost you any money.
    The free offers are here

A little known page on the ipioints site for more free offers is the 'advertising page'. some of these adverts give you a free ipoints for clicking on them.

Another good way to top up your ipoints for free is to join ipoints, then join surveys.com. Every time you do a survey from them you can earn more ipoints.

Keep an eye out on the site also for their mini-surveys called ipolls, these will give you a point each.

Lastly if you really want to go for it, ipoints has their own Loyalty Credit Card. The rate is not great so make sure you clear the balance each month but it racks up quite quickly.

An ipoint is worth about 5p, so quite generous, and you can get the cheapest rewards, vouchers usually, for 40 ipoints.

    Hope that helps!

In order to qualify for ipoints, do you have to first got to the ipoints site, and then navigate through to your chosen retailer?

Otherwise, if I just go straight to, say, woolworths.co.uk, how do they know I'm an ipoints member? I'm a bit confused, because even when I visit Woolies via the ipoints site, it looks exactly the same and doesn't mention ipoints at all (well, not that I noticed).

At this stage, because there was no mention of ipoints on the Woolies site (when I went via the ipoints site), I'm not even sure whether I qualified for points. How long should it take for them to appear in my ipoints account? ( I know they say 30 days, but roughly how long does it really usually take? )

It was a bit different at SendIt.com. On there, SendIt.com requests your ipoints account details so I can undertand how they are able to credit your ipoints account.

    Thanks,
    Stonk.
  • yes, you hav to go to the ipoints site first, then click on the link to the woolies site. I'm not sure exactly how they record it, some sites ask for your ipoints email at the end of the transaction.

Maybe the link takes you to a loading page, which logs that you have clicked on the link in ipoints, then quickly redirects you to the main site. It probably uses cookies to track you.

I have been using ipoints since 2002, and have claimed numerous CD's and games off them.

has anyone noticed the number of ipoints for casinos has dropped dramatically, i went on a few weeks ago and saw riverbelle, 1200 ipoints for a £75 deposit, now it has dropped to 350 points for a £35 deposit. Have the casinos stopped trying to attract customers.

    Subject: Happy New Year

    Dear Stuart,

I trust you had a good Christmas and a relaxing break over New Year.

I am assuming that most of the staff will have been off over the last two weeks and will still be catching up. I mention this because back in October 2006 you sent me an email assuring me that additional staff were being recruited to deal with your customer support requests.

I mention this because I have an outstanding support request ID 505629 which was logged on Thursday December 21st and here we are on January 3rd and it is still sitting at 'queued' status.

It is simply not acceptable to force your customers to contact you through the site and then not bother to even look at the support requests they lodge. This request was lodged a full two days before the Christmas weekend even commenced. I did not expect a solution, but I did at least hope someone would look at it. Holiday period or no holiday period, this kind of turnaround time is simply not acceptable.

I will be lodging a copy of this email at the site 'Money Saving Expert' where as I am sure you will know, members meet in forums to discuss the pros and cons of the various 'cashback' sites. I am sure it will not have escaped your attention that a certain Irish site beats the customer service at ipoints into a cocked hat right now and when I've got money to spend, I generally look to them first. You also get to email a real person and get a response within 48 hours!

Let's make 2007 a rather better year for responding to our customer support requests - what do you say?

    With kind regards,

I feel the same with their (lack of) customer service - roll the dice to see which ticket we'll look at today.

I opened several Casino accounts in Nov/Dec 2006, and nothing has hit my ipoints balance although I have chased this up with opening tickets and phone calls.

I made a profit on a couple of the accounts, but I am due 2,500 ipoints, and that's no small amount :-(

I agree that if companies hide behind electronic means of support, then the customers end up feeling ignored, in the same way as when you ask eBay a question!!

Sorry, could you please clarify your question? Are you saying you've traded in Test and Votes points for iPoints and want to know how to spend the iPoints or is it that you have Test & Vote points and want to know how to convert them to iPoints?
