Quite a nice post Christmas use stuff up meal is to halve sprouts and fry them in a hot pan with cubed chorizo and some mushrooms. Then when ready to serve a dash (really not much) white wine in the pan and melt in a few cubes of blue cheese which makes a sort of sauce with the wine. Stilton is fine, I also use Dolcelatto. You get quite a strong tasting vegetable mix, it's lovely with game.

You may want to get a dog for blame purposes if you haven't already got one though.

How about some leek and stilton soup. One of our favourites, with ans example recipe here. Really this is just a guide and you can tweak at will - I never use potatoes, for example.

Just the job for this weather.

For a bit of real decadence - stilton and avocado sandwich!

Finely slice the avocado, crumble or finely slice the stilton, whatever your favourite bread is buttered or spread with mayo - nom nom nom!

Blue cheese dip (sainsburys db has a recipe if I remember rightly)
sauce for pasta - make like a regular cheese sauce with flour butter and milk then crumble in the stilton.
or cauliflower cheese with the same sauce
If all else fails you can freeze it but be careful to wrap it up well or everything else will pick up the smell:eek:
  • I would chop the bacon up, fry it till it gets a bit crispy, then whisk up a couple of eggs with some black pepper, chuck them in, followed by crumbled stilton, and have stilton and bacon omlette!
  • wow, wow, wow - thank you all so much, love every single post and wish I had more stilton now!
    thanks again

That sounds nice - I'll try this instead of Leek and Stilton next time - many thanks.

We went to a restaurant and were served the following as a starter - it sounds gross but, trust me, it was so delicious that I have served it myself at family events and it always goes down a storm.

Take a tin of peach halves in natural juice (not syrup), drain (save the juice for something else) and fill the cavity with crumbled Stilton. Place under the grill until the Stilton is melted and the peaches warmed through. Serve with salad garnish.

    Simples :D.
