The OP is just worried about telling boss for valid reasons due to the respect he has gained in his position at work.

I'm sure as long as the OP has cleaned up their credit files since BR then there shouldn't be a problem with the bank. The problem is trying not to let his boss know he was BR in the past.
When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN :D

  • My understanding is the BR order detail is still showing on the CR record of the OP , it stays on the files for 6 years.. i understood from the post he was only at 5 years post the date he was declared BR. maybe misread that though , that was why he wanted it to go to 6 years and then the boss would have been none the wiser.

I did ask that direct question to the OR because i wasnt sure if it just showed defaulted etc or how they showed what was what , they said , its recorded in words and does state Bankruptcy Order which can be viewed for the following 6 years, i dont know if it just drops off or that is part of the credit repair, i shall find that out in 6 years .lol

Sadly this is the nightmare of being a BR, we never know what is round the next corner, seems the AD bit is often the least of our problems.
Co op advised also that because it is listed for that time i would be stuck with a cashminder account until the end of the 6 years.
Just wanted to add even if you tried to do credit repair, that order is always recorded and that overrides any other adverse ie defaults , CCJ's, that may have dropped off.

He makes the point of his BR being 5 years in April on several posts and also he has led them to beleive he owns his own home and that he actually only rents, i think his worries are that when they check , they will see he has been made BR and there is not much he can do, so he had been trying to avoid them giving him a card. if they didnt give him the card they wouldnt need to do the application.

That is why imo he needs to say before any meeting with a bank.

Terrible suitation to be in, I really feel for the poster.

My fingers remain crossed for you. Could you make an anonymous call to the bank?

I'd be up front about saying why you are reluctant to have a company card. If the boss didn't ask from day one whether you were BR, then why would it matter now? Any logical thinking boss would say that we didn't ask in the beginning so why would we react funnily because you've told us now?

It will save the worry and stress in the long run.

Thanks again for all your comments.
I just cant bring myself to talk to my boss about this.
He has taken the forms off me today to take them to the bank.
I havnt filled in the bits that say about credit history.
Its sit back and panic time :(
I havnt attempted to clean up my credit history as i didnt think id need to as i never wanted credit ever again.
Surely if the bank was to do a credit check on me and when i fail that check they cant disclose why i failed to my boss?
    Is'nt that breaching confidentiality?
With it being a small family firm all my closest workers are pally and i will always be wondering what is being said behind my back.
I just want it all to end as in 12 months all will be history and i get to live the life i deserve to live.
and its looking like another sleepless night.
I suppose i best use the time to clean up my credit record...
anyone reading this post done the clean up before and is it hard to do?
    thanks again all :)

  • i cant even answer, your CR wll say in blazing style your are a BR, and you are prepared to risk this and the company by a public bank meeting. please tell your boss before they are made aware

and if your not sure do a flamin credit check on line as what you will see will what the bank will see and the whole organisation may be discredited.

    Feigning that go ill

I'm not sure that the people in the bank will be able to see anything other than a simple decline if you were credit checked, but even so, I doubt that they would legally be able to inform anyone of the reasons anyway because of the Data protection Act?

I feel sorry for the situation you're in, not an easy one, but just failing a credit check could be explained away by you having done to many credit checks in the last six months (When you were busy opening up some new bank accounts and getting a few extra 0% Credit cards ;) and only recently have you become aware of the damage you've done to your Credit file!)

If you still feel unable to admit to being a Bankrupt in the past, you might be advised to think up a plausible excuse for failing, but who knows, you might pass too.....

    Good luck

im shocked how late you lot are awake on here
and i thought it was only me that couldnt sleep.
Thanks for all the comments (some scarier than others) but its good to be prepaired.
ill start this weekend clearing up my credit rating but feel that this year will be the longest out of the 6 years :o

    Do i regret going bankrupt????
Not one bit as i contemplated suicide before i went bankrupt and i know that no matter what is thrown at me it cant hurt me more than owing 10's of thousands and having no way of paying it back.
