High Postage

So cycle
That's a JOKE, by the way, in case anyone is feeling touchy! My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
If you see an excessive postage price on ebay, you can report it to them and they will either withdraw the item or get the seller to reduce the postage.
But it doesn't help if you have already bought the item. I guess I would write ' high postage costs' in the feedback.0 -
If you dont like the postage dont bid simple really, there plenty of sellers selling the same things if there isnt a seller selling the item you want you will just have to swallow the costs. I base all my bidding on what the item is worth to me, If the postage takes it over what im willing to bid i reduce my max bid before i bid.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

It is unlikely ebay will do anything at all about it. They only act where the post and packing can be shown to be unreasonable, all costs associated with packing and posting are allowed. Unless they have changed it the example that ebay give is that they would consider a DVD going for £25 p and p to be unreasonable, which is about 50 times higher than actual postage costs.

I don't over charge for postage BUT If I buy an item when It arrives I don't look at it and start wondering why they cahrge me x amount and it cost them x amount. You bid on it and surely would have known that it was a light item so would not have cost a lot to post, if it was safely recieved then what is the probelm?DFW no.630!

I understand the gripe here, really I do. I hate being ripped off too. But the ebay community covers a very large and very diverse proportion of the population. Some people sell sh*t, some people try to con sh*t out of you and others just very much are sh*t (lots (hopefully the majority) are good honest people). IMO. This dude may be making money on postage, but he may not also. You don't know the circumstances, but unfortunately as other ebayers have said that's pretty much tough. You agreed the cost of the item and the postage when you bid. You did not agree that the postage would include a jiffy bag. The seller didn't send it in one, so you're miffed. If the card works (and I understand it's not tested yet) then the postage was adequate. If I were you I would just put this down to experience, and in future if you see a high postage then ask the seller why it's inflated and how it will be packed. Most people really do put postage at cost (I do) and I think most people will package their goods suitably, but unfortunately the values and ideas of acceptability that you hold will sometimes conflict with the values and ideas of others.
You feel strongly therefore send the guy a message asking why the postage was so high for rubbish packaging. It could be he has travelling costs to the post office or whatever, you can't assume circumstances I'm afraid. It could be he's just on the make on postage, or reducing his e bay costs as other posters have said. If the card works then leave a neutral feedback, mention high postage and learn from this auction. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.0 -
I send a message to him and he replyed with a cheeky reply stating that the reason why he didnt use a jiffy bag or bubble wrap is because people throw them away. He then goes on to claim that his cards are the cheapest on ebay and if I was not happy then I should send it back to him for a full refund, then he finished it but saying do not leave any silly/-ve feedback. What a cheek.0

In my eyes he's charged you £5 packaging costs for "in his words" "cards that are the cheapest on ebay". Saying that he has offered you a refund so the choice is yours.0

My bro won a datcard the next day/Sunday and he got it a few days ago and it was the same but this time it was damaged. I may left +/- feedback, should I just said with my of course "High postage, crap packing item was ok". Or what would be better.0

I hate people who charge extra on P&P to make money.
Look at what other people are charging 1st, before bidding on any item(s) and seee if the postal costs are reasonable.
If your interested in an item and the post cost is high, ask the seller if this is correct.
I did this in 1 case, and the seller simply stated that it was a mistake as she was listing quite a few items and forgot to change the postage costs, Cos I brought this to her attention she revised her item and lowered the p&p. Fairplay!
However, ebay is a tough competion now to get your custom, that sellers can really charge what they want. Things go 4 peanuts anyway, and by getting the money worth, they make it on p&p
I keep my p&p down, not only in fairness, but it also attracts more buyers. I also re-cycle my packaging materials in order to keep costs down.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
