If the postage costs were listed in the auction, then there is no point complaining now...

But things like a datacards should be send a jiffy bag, not paper.
  • Slightly off topic here but I sold something during the changeover of the new pricing in proportion rate by Royal Mail. I made sure the flat cost of p&p covered both the old and new rates in case the buyer paid after 21 August. I'm not one of those bullying sellers who states payment must be made within 3 or 5 days in their auctions ;)

My buyer paid promptly and since I used an old jiffy envelope, I made a profit of about 15p out of p&p. Had he paid after 21 August I would have only pocketed 1p. Needless to say, I felt guilty profiteering that much and not using an new envelope! I almost considered putting a 10p piece in with his item! Thankfully he didn't complain :D

I actually refund any excess - it makes the buyer feel good and Paypal get a smaller fee :)
They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.

Didn't you say it was in a dvd case?, which are normally made of plastic and therefore pretty sturdy, why the obsession with Jiffy Bags. Ebay is an auction site, you are buying things off other people who may or may not share your enthusiasm for jiffy bags.

I honestly think that yes the postage was a little high, but you agreed to pay it therefore you don't have much room for complaint. Was the item damaged or was it ok?

I see lots of items go to bidders on ebay where the total cost including postage is more than some prices offered with a "buy it now" including postage. Brand new boxed items, all from 100% feedback sellers. I can only conclude they don't take the postage costs into account.
Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

i always guestimate my postage costs because they arent wrapped until the night before and i have no idea about weight, sometimes im under sometimes im over

If you use this link http://www.pfwwsg.royalmail.com/portal/pw/PriceFinder;jsessionid=TTPGXCBQRYBM2FB2IGGUNZQ;jsessionid=TTPGXCBQRYBM2FB2IGGUNZQ?catId=24400720&gear=pricingcalc you can calculate postage costs exactly then all you need to do is factor in the cost of packing too.

Royal Mail do the same thing its called domestic services on their site or Price finder. i hope this helps you out

i use this for all my ebay sales and it makes it fairer for the buyer and gives you peace of mind that you are'nt over charging.

Lots of items are listed for a very small price and over inflated P+P prices. You just need to be vigilant.

No problem in emailing the seller to query it though.

people like you drive me nuts!!

as long as the item works, whats the problem?

if you dont agree and want certain postage criteria to be met then buy from someone to somewhere that will.

i had someone complain because i sent tickets 1st class for 4.50 (this included insurance for the £60 value of tickets) and the guy was not happy when it arrived within 2 days of the auction ending!!

he got the item, quickly there was nothing wrong with it AND it was insured (even upon cancellation of the show) and he still complained even after agreeing to al my terms!!

    dont bloody bid!!!

its ebay!! i have lower expectations for items brought on ebay purely due to the nature of auctioning, its like an online car boot almost.
    i dont expect any frills

I agree. If you don't like the postage rate don't bid.
It's clear to see that £7 is excessive so I would have given that auction a wide berth.

I think the OP is naffed off about the quality of the packaging. Having paid £7 p&p you would expect decent packaging. I've received a few items really badly packaged before and it is annoying.

I would bid on an item with high P&P but obviously bid a lower amount for the item.

By the way, there is a seller listing nintendo games at the moment who states "please note that p&p covers postage, packing, ebay fees and paypal fees" !!!!!!
  • £7 is a hell of a lot, but then you did pay it! its up to the individual how much u wanna pay rly. u got ur item, im pressuming it was as seen in the advert. you knew how much u were paying for what and if u thought it would be under, well, ur loss rly. in future dnt bid on things u think r too steep postage wise. and i dnt think the seller will be much use if u email him ... hes happy, he has profit
A good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute ...:A
