o2 cancelling PUFL contract

I have had an o2 PUFL contract for many many years. Every year they try and move me to a new tariff but I have just kept the original £99 up front for life. No new phones, 50 minutes to landlines, no texts.
They now say the tariff is cancelled and only meant "for the life of the contract".
I am prepared to fight for the principle that Life means my Life and they can't simply begin taking money from a DD that is set up to pay only for calls made.
Anyone else had this recently?
I have written to their complaints dept and await a response.:(

So are you saying you paid £99 at the start of the contract & nothing else or that you pay £99 each year ?0

It was a deal o2 did years ago, one payment of £99 and you got 50 minutes a month, it was always advertised as "for life" so typical o2 trying to renege on the original deal.====0

Only asked because my PUFFL was from the BT Cellnet days & was £199 for life but there have been a lot of people on Line Advance tariff for £99 per year that have been cancelled lately . I still have 2 PUFFL phone contracts on the 50minutes any time tariff & never had a murmour from O2 about them0

O2 sent some SMS to PUFFL customers in error saying they were getting moved to Simplicity, but yeah, customers on the Line Advance tariff that pay £99 every year are getting moved to simplicity I believe.0

My PUFFL online account says 'Sorry about the delay. We're working on it now' where it usually shows my tarriff summary it has been like that for at least the last week. My bill is due in 20th so I will see what happens then.0

Depending on the way the contract is written it could be argued it was the life of the original hardware. That's certainaly the case for other hardware sold with a lifetime warranty. A lot of IT kits lifetime warranty is only whilst is still produced or supported, and the support life may be xx years after it ceases production.0

As O2's contract is for the SIM and not the equipment, they'd have a hard task saying that it depended on the original equipment being servicible. Tariffs are very rately cancelled, they are 'retired' and not available to new customers, natural wastage results in their eventual closure - but this rarely takes place when there are live customers using it.
The statement 'for the life of the contract' is quite correct. Providing you pay, it has no end date.0 -

You need to get switched on to Network lingo.
Now you and I know that "for life" in the real world means just that. Equally, we know that "unlimited" means no limit.
However, Networks seem to have been given carte blanche to interpret words as they like, with the blessing of the regulator, so "unlimited" in network speak means "with whatever limit we like to impose and it will be different from me to my competitor"
Now "for life" clearly means for as long as the person who drew up your contract lived, and, regrettably, he has just died.

I also have two PUFL contracts, originally with BTCellnet.
Since 2008 O2 have been trying to get me off these contracts by failing to renew them and sending me a bill for £300 pounds. (2 x 12 mounts line rentals)
Every year I have fought this with success.
Last year I even got a good will compensation payment for "Failed Promise" of £150.
I have now just received a letter saying they will not honour it this year and I'm being moved to a Simplicity Contract of £15 per phone.
I have just sent another letter to their complaints department.
As far as I'm concerned for life means for life.0 -
I have two o2 pufl cards and have been told they have been cancelled after being moved to alltime 75 last year as my tariff was no longer available.
Anyone have a copy of the original terms and conditions of the bt cellnet pufl £99 50 mins tariff as i have written a letter of complaint to o2 asking for a deadlock letter and intend to take it further.0
