Which means if anyone was unlucky enough for their original box to go wrong in the next couple of weeks, at least it's still under warranty............
  • you cant record cable or sky progs on any pvr

I managed to do that quite well with the previous analogue Aldi PVR. Sadly it went back because of the iffy software and the refund went to a few tuner boards to turn my PC into a much better PVR with freeview, sky control etc etc.

The warranty is 3 years, as far as I know.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • For everyone asking about a PVR box that can record Sky\NTL then this one should be up to the job and is quite good value ....

Note it doesn't have a digital tuner, only analogue and it only +RW and +R media.

    Well that’s decided it then……..

My one from last year will be going back before my years no quibble warranty runs out – there are some decidedly annoying glitches. Mine has recently decided to freeze every time I start playing back recordings – along with other intermittent crashes – though these are easily cured by switching on/off. Saying all this though, I have had well over £99 worth of use from it and when it works (the majority of the time) it's been, for me, a very useful item especially for recording those not-to-be-missed things on TV at a moments notice. Great piece of kit at £99 if you can cope with the problems.

I will of course be getting one of these new ones (after I have returned mine) – may as well have another years *ahem* free usage
though I should really add that if I currently had the extra cash I would suggest that the twin-tuner Humax 9200T is the PVR to go for it has a number of options that may be worth the extra - such as being able to truly record two channels at once (whilst watching a third), the ability to rewind TV and it also has PC connectivity – so you can transfer files to your PC hard-drive. I think I have seen it as low as £160-170 with discounts but generally £200ish and it less fault free than the Aldi PVR. I purposely say fault-free as all PVR’s seem to have known bugs and issues.
  • Let me guess...there'll only be four of these at each branch & 1hr before Aldi open there'll be a queue outside. Then a big scrum when the shop actually opens...some big bruiser from Albania will put 3 in his basket - the underpaid & weary staff won't get involved......& all I'll leave with is a packet of dodgy 'out of date' French biscuits that I'm even not sure what the flavour is (& I didn't even want, but felt the need to buy something instead of leaving empty handed).

    Sound about right?

I bought one for my mother, cos she really liked the idea of my humax one.

Suffice to say all the problems were there, no ITV, dodgy sound, really clunky use interface.

As far as I can remember although it's twin tuner, it can't record two channels at once.

You're better off getting a single tuner humax and an extra digibox for watching things. Or a twin tuner humax if you can afford it!

Yes you can. i have a sharp DVD recorder with hard drive and analogue tuner. It records sky channels perfectly via a scart cable. The only channels it won't record are the pay per view films. no probs with any of the others.
