Can anyone thats recevied this card tell me if it needs to be activated?
I might be going away for a while so will be unable to do so, do you think this will cause any issues if i then activate it a month later?0 -
It can be activated online (where it makes you set up an online account) or offline via an 0800 number.
I must admit I only briefly read the blurb that came with it, but I don't remember it saying it had to be done in a specfic time. It certainly doesn't mention it on the sticky activation label on the card.
You'll need to sign for the card anyway, so you or someone will need to be in with indentity proof.
You'll get a letter saying they have a delivery and asking you to contact them in 48 hours of the letter to arrange delivery which you can do online or by phone.0 -
Oh that sounds like a hassle, i could be out of the country for up to a month.... can someone else sign for it?0
-
Looking at the letter, it says that they tried to deliver to me but where unable to complete delivery (i.e no one in I guess), so you might be ok.
If not you'll get the letter I got.
It says on the letter, it can be to your work or home address.
It says, indentification (e.g driving licence, bank card, passport).
Although the letter doesn't state someone else can sign, when I went online it said someone else could.0 -
Ok, thanks for your help!
Did it come by courier then or just normal post?0 -
Mine came by DX secure0

Hi Guys
i have applied for one of these cards because of the 15 month 0% purchases
but what if i want the money in my hand to pay someone or for example pay someone that is not a business, that wouldn't be classed as a purchase would it?
i believe i would also not be able to get cash back on my credit cards from the likes of ASDA
what i have been told credit card companies used to offer cheques which used to act like purchases
anyone have any experience with this
all i want to do is to be able to buy some second hand stuff, either by transfering from my credit card to my bank , don't think i can pay someones bank directly and it act as a purchase?
i think i have overlooked this and have got the wrong type of card :-(0 -
Indeed any cash withdrawals/balance transfers will run interest and are not included as purchases at 0% for 15months.
Your only option is to buy Sterling travellers cheques from M&S. There is a 1% commission fee but after that it will be at 0% for 15 months. If you are purchasing a foreign currency then the fee is 0%.0 -
A quick account of my experience with M&S -
I applied, and was quickly refused by email. I thought that was very strange - I've got a very good credit history, and dont currently have that much credit available to me. But then a few days later and I was looking at my polling card and realised my likely problem - the version of my address on the electoral role (the formatting of the flat number) was different to the version I normally use, and having checked experian, I confirmed the problem (Very annoying I might add - there are 3 different versions in use by different groups!)
I replied to the email directly asking them to reconsider, suggesting this as a possible problem, and a few days they replied to say yes, that was the problem, and I had now been accepted.
So... That elecoral role is impotant to M&S!
Edit: I'll add, I moved into this flat less than a year ago and havent applied for credit whilst living here, until now.0 -
Got the Pin yesterday anf the card finally arrived today, just shy of a month since applying.
It came via normal (unsigned post) with a credit limit of £4000.0
