Well done nice to hear yes Baillifs advice on line is very good
unfortunatly most local authoritys dont care and tell you to take it up with the baillif firm

Mine basically told me to take a hike and said the fees stood as far as they were concerned and I have to take it up with Rossendales. The only time that the person I spoke to faltered was when I mentioned an agent acting on their behalf had applied unlawful charges and the council appeared to be condoning and allowing that type of unlawful behaviour.

I'm going to make a big stink about this to Rossendales and to the Council. If necessary both of them are going to court.

Rossendales owe ME money now  they're also saying in writing that the charges are in line with legislation. :rotfl:

I'm sending a letter tomorrow giving them 7 days to refund then it'll be a Form 4 complaint.
  • I got no where with my complaint form and that was with a bailiff basically commiting theft , still no getting no where with the charges and waiting for replies still , Hallowitch - been having problems getting online , going to try again tonight , I still have copies of emails from me and them.
  • Just an up date on the happening from the dealings with rossendales, nothing could be done about the money the bailiff took from my mums account so that was left, I carried on paying my weekly amounts and un expectedly received a letter shoved through my door stating I had 24 hours to pay 317 pound he came to my house several times and I watched in full view and he saw me yet he just got out of his car and posted it through without a knock on the door or anything , I'm thinking its to do with the complaint I made regarding the other matter , anyhow the debt originally was for £60 back in 2006 which the council tax had actually been paid by myself and the landlord was also paying council tax yet they still insisted I owed them it .
I contacted rossendales and told them I had no intrests in dealing with there company or any of there bailiffs and asked for accounts to be sent back to my council in line with me been on IS and was going for an attatchmens or earnings and for it to be taken out of my IS.
I received a snotty email back stating it wasn't possible and I had to pay up, not long after I received an email from my local council saying they had contacted rossendales regarding there code of conduct and had now with drawn all of my accounts from them and were sending me payment cards out :D also about 500 pound was took off what I apparently owed too so that's fab too .
I never received the none existant levy either which I asked for several times !

hi ive been having trouble with rossendales also...i had a visit last year for council tax non payment and set up a repayment plan, at the tine i was in receipt of jsa, paying ten pounds per fortnight. i found a part time job working nightshift and missed 1 payment. they visited me again telling me they were taking all my goods even thought they didnt have a wpo and i hadnt let them into my home...ive since wrote to head office requesting a higher payment plan but a few times and just keep getting refused and the bailiff still comes to my house wanting my goods, its very stressful as im not refusing to repay the money owed..ive been told i can request that the council take the debt back so that i can pay them wot is owed...im a single mother with just me and my daughter at home...im worried, stressed an very depressed as ive tried everything to set up a plan with them, plz help!
  • Hi Wendy, I can imagine how stressed your feeling as rossendales are an awful company to deal with as you've probably read from my posts I had several problems with them and felt stuck and didn't know what to do for some time.
How much is the outstanding amount you owe them? Don't let the bailiffs in at any cost or contact rossendales as they won't help in anyway as I fount out.
Your best bet is to write a letter or email to your local council explaining your circumstances to them and how its effecting you by having to deal with rossendales and that they aren't willing to consider and re payment plan , ask them to take the debt back and to apply for it to be taken out of your benefits as you do want to pay it off.

Great to hear of your success in the matter and getting some off the bill. Are you still continuing with the complaint against the bailiff and their unlawful fees.

You probably dont need to go down the N24 formal complaint but I would be inclined to continue with the formal complaint to the council and inform your local MP.

  • Hey king , the council said there fees were inline with the legislatoon obviously that isn't the case , I have asked rossendales several times for the levy for the account that was in question but haven't received it they've always replied to every other aspect I have mentioned but avoided completely about the levy, I'm not sure Howe to go about the fees I'm a bit lost in that respect

I assume that you have that in writing from the council?

I would FOI the council their contract info for council tand and rossendales, there you will find what and how they must behave.

  • I still have the email from the council I'll copy it

    Dear Madam
    Council Tax Arrears
I refer to your e-mail in respect of the above and note its content.
It is at my discretion as to whether I choose to collect your debt by attachment to your benefit or by an alternative method .
I note your dispute regarding payments made to Rossendales and their code of conduct.! I have contacted Rossendale regarding their Bailiffs conduct and they have provided a detailed breakdown.! From the information I have been provided it would appear that the Bailiff has followed all procedures, and I note they have also contacted you on this matter direct.! Should you wish to discuss this matter further please contact Rossendales direct.
