I'm going to sign up with Tazbar as soon as I have a little free time, also the Google alternative when it comes out. Not sure about Ebid, what's the general verdict? I'm not abandoning Ebay altogether but my plan is to gradually give them less and less of my custom.

Ditto - I'm experimenting with listing on google (your item will then appear in a Google/Froogle search) to drive traffic to an alternate site (probably Tazbar). Ebay have already lost some my custom to Amazon. Whilst the Marketplace system certainly isn't perfect - buyer feedback being my biggest problem so far - at least it far simpler to list mainstream items I accept the higher fees simply because the listing lasts for 60 days and I can renew so simply. I also think that at least Amazon are upfront about the fee they charge without all the faffing about with percentages/FVF/Paypal etc.
I do hope you're telling the truth?

    Who do you use instead?

I'm looking for other places to list. I don't particularly like Ebid's format and the fact that they 'hold' payment whilst the buyer inspects the item worries me.

I've now listed a few beds and mattresses on https://www.tazbar.com , https://www.bestauction.co.uk and google base.

I was going to list on amazon, but they are even more expensive than ebay

They have very recently revamped their site - looks quite a bit better now. I have sold a few (very few!) items on there and as far as I am aware the 'hold' payment is only if you have opted for the escrow type of transaction. Paypal is now accepted there too. Could be worth another look.

To be honest, I've been selling quite alot of stuff on e bay recently, and I am getting a bit sick of the amount of money they are making out of me via listing, final value and Paypal fees.

Has anyone had any success on auction sites other than E Bay, that charge less?
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

You could use your local Fridayad (http://www.friday-ad.co.uk/) or bargain pages(http://www.bargainpages.co.uk/) where you can place ads for free. You wont be able to auction your items for free just sell them but there is an auctioning tool on fridayad (i think you have to pay) but if you are just looking to sell your stuff and know what its worth then it is worth putting a free ad in one of these places.
