Alternative auction sites to Ebay Discussion Thread (Merged)

There does seem to be quite a few bargains on there. I love that you have the option to look at pitches rather than just choose category - it's like being at a real car boot sale but without the cold and threat of rain. I have been so disillusioned with ebay recently I'm happy to give this one a try - just make sure I keep my bidding low just incase.0

I have just put a few items on too as it is free:j .
Do they actually tell you if someone buys your item (like ebay)? or do you have to keep going to check?
Can you tell if anyone has looked at your site? (cf ebay x amount of visits to your item?) When i check my pitch i can't see any information like this.0 -
I'm an antiques dealer and a large percentage of my sales are through Ebay. Recently I came across a new auction site called https://www.gavel.co.uk which is offering free listings and no commission charges. It seems kosha and very well designed but I was just wondering if anyone had come across it before and what they thought of it. I've got a huge range of stock that I'm intending to put on there and hopefully avoid the hefty fees that I pay to Ebay every month. Has anyone heard of it or actually used it? Please let me know.

I have had items on here for a few months now but sold nothing!0

:cool:0 -
No, not my site, not my painting either, just a bit cautious0

yes, I did come across that, thats what makes me think it may be bogus0

Bug.ger, seeing it only had that painting on it and no-one has bid I thought I'd try and get it for 1p (It say 0.00 postage) well there's nothing to lose apart from 1p!
...................................But it wants a minimum bid of £2600:mad:0 -
I know its probably tosh but I do like the look of the site! easy to follow etc..... unlike some of ebay rivals!!
like fleurdelysgallery feedback.........
