RustyFlange wrote: »I did a similar kind of thing. the day before I needed to give it to my father in law I nipped to asda/morrisons and bought a variety of all different cheeses just small lumps enough for one kind of size. Then arranged them all lovely into a basket with a couple of bottles of wine, however you could get some mini bottles of wine (Asda do 5 bottles for £4) a cheese board (round one) cheese knife, small block of crackers and selection of cheeses and use some blutack or double sided pads to keep it all in place rather than use a basket??? I know what I mean for it to look like lol hard to explain though. total cost would probably be about £12 including all the wine and cheeses etc
thanks some great ideas there
cant deccide on the board or the basket now:D0 -
hi all, baskets are all looking lovely and ive been so inspired i started buying for my own. Rainmac, when i was in tescos today i noticed a wok with 4 little chinese bowls, chopsticks and a wooden spatula i supose you could say it is!? i didnt actually get the price, *sorry* but as soon as i saw it i remembered you were doing a chiense themed hamper. Even if you didn't want to get the wok, *im sure you said you had that* then how about getting some chopsticks and maybe the little bowls?
sorry if thats no help

Well I've been stocking up on some of the half price items (or less) in the current sales ready for when my DD gets invited to parties.... Asda are doing some small CD type boxes in pink for £1 that I thought would make a great basis for a small hamper. I should probably start a finished boxes rather than basket thread but never mind.
Box £1
Contents
Ellie the pink elephant £1.50 reduced from £3
Barbie Fairytopia skipping rope £1.50 reduced from £3.50
Disney princess tissues 30p
Pink plastic Bracelet - had approx 30p
Pencil sharpener 29p
Pencil with rubber 10p (from a set of 10 for £1)
total cost approx £5 (full price would have been £8.50) new (within 1 month) spend £4

Some ideas would be great please for a hamper for my son's 11th birthday next week. So far I have a Bart Simpson dressing gown (£9 in M&S sale), cool sunglasses, PS2 game and DVD that he wants but that's all. Need some ideas for fillers and also something fairly roomy to put the stuff in. He's into football, playstation and cars (ferraris etc). Help!! Have made loads of hampers for little girls and female relations with great success but just stumped on this one. He's seen all these great hampers and can't wait to get one himself. At the moment, it's not looking too promising!!:o0

Home bargains often have cheap chocolate footballs in bags like what you get chocolate gold coins in and plastic footballs that are filled with candy, you could get a few of each to fill in the gaps.
Wilkinsons had simpsons beer buckets in that you could use as a hamper, they had them reduced, they would be fine for an 11 year old.
Also in some supermarkets you can get dandelion and burdock or ginger beer in bottles, would look nice in a mans hamper.
What about boys top trumps cards, collectible car ornament.0
