Remember for the jokey baskets/hard up baskets you can wrap 2 x aa batteries and put in a little slip saying gift not included. This would go down a scream!!!
Not my idea but someone put it on this forum a few pages back and I am supposed to be spring cleaning so don't have time to trawl back through to find it all.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Just to say thet have boxes very similar to these reduced to 62p in my local big Tesco. They come flat-packed and I thought yesterday when I saw them how like the Ikea ones they are.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

Oops, has the idea been posted before? Or is it just the battery bit?
Maybe some squares of newspaper for a hard up one as well - to use as toilet paper and entertainment (reading it that is!) at the same time?0 -

Hello guys!
Long time no see (well since just before last xmas)!
I am planning on doing gift baskets again, however, I am stuuuccckk for ideas, I did "movie" baskets last year and am looking to do something different this year for:
Mum and Stepdad
Dad and Stepmum
Mother & Father in law
Brother in law & wife
So 4 different baskets I can do for couples.
Also I would appreciate any advice on wrapping the baskets, mine looked great last year until I wrapped them - the cellophane just didn't want to go on properly, hahaha! (Or should that be ho ho ho?)
Been looking through and some of the latest baskets look great :T
How about picking another theme - chocolate lovers (my fave theme as I love chocolate and making two of these myself for Xmas), tea and biscuits, coffee and biscuits? There are some cracking sets a few pages back for tea and biscuits which would give you some ideas.
Anyone into games/puzzles? Could do a hamper with puzzle books, couple of packs of cards, I saw games in Home Bargains last week for 49p things like "guess who I am". They were in cube shaped boxes and would be perfect for popping into a basket! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Are any of them hard up at the moment, or do they have a sense of humour?
I was thinking about a 'Beat the fuel price increases' basket. (Sorry if it has already been mentioned btw - I can't recall seeing it on here).
You could put in things like big fluffy socks, candles, hot water bottles, flask, blanket to snuggle under, bath stuff to share (cheaper that way!)...
You could also put something 'naughty' in so they can share body heat and have fun without the TV, or other electrical thing, on. Maybe not for your parents though....
I think that's a great idea for a basket! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Thought I'd share some bits I've been collecting for my Chinese hamper for the outlaws Xmas present. I bought this book for £4.99 (used a free p&p code on voucher board). Got a wok from Wilkos for £2.50 this week. Have bought soy sauce, oyster sauce, jar of chinese 5 spice, couple of small tins of veg like water chestnuts from Tesco (been on offer due to Olympics), jasmine rice (on offer), green tea with jasmine (on offer), 2 bottles Tiger beer (£3 for two offer in Tesco).
Need to buy fortune cookies, prawn crackers and chopsticks and then I think I will be done! Oh and some kind of oil, sesame maybe?
I have got an oriental cross stitch (free gift with a magazine) I am hoping to get done and framed to add to the basket, along with a 'menu/list' of everything in the basket.
Is there anything I could/should add? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
