I have just thought as well, I have got my Dad a years subscription for Top Gear magazine (using my clubcard vouchers), does anyone have any (cheap and cheerful) ideas to make up a basket with this in and possible other things that link in with the theme! Just a thought, but as everyone is going to be getting baskets etc. his is going to look a bit feeble in an envelope!
(it wouldn't let me add this as an edit to my previous post for some reason)
I was thinking the same as Sally Savings. Rather than a envelope, make your own certificate and maybe frame it (clip frames are cheap, plus you could put a nice pic behind the cert to make the frame last longer) or but it in a backed envelope to make more of it.
What to go in the bucket depends on your budget, and on the age of your dad but here is a list
day cart racing
Fluffy dice
driving gloves
shampoo
wax
cloths (patch work shammys are in home bargains and the pound shop)
tax disk holder
I.O.U. car wash vouchers (although you may regret this in the middle of winter, alternatively you could pay to get it put through the machine)
a packet of chewy/ boiled sweets or a flask for those long journeys.
first aid kit for the boot
Ok I am exhausted (whoops) after that, but hope it helps

hi there
i have just made an 'organic' hamper for a family member. used a great 'free' sturdy low cardboard box (originally had fruit/veg in it) that i picked up in lidl - very organic!
filled it with organic goodies from asda that i have picked up over the last few weeks and then a load this sat - they have got lots of half-price and reduced items dotted around and in dedicated sections - just check the shelf-edge labels.
i did a real bumper hamper and it cost £5-£6.0 -

You could get a wire bucket if you can find one... some golf places stilluse them for golf balls... Other than that I'd not worry too much about finding a golf themed basket thingy, you can always decorate it with golf stuffOh and tho not cheap the large bags of lake balls in Tesco are very good value - there are some pretty good balls in there usually (as well as some just "ok" ones)

I think the hampers are a great idea,:T a lot of my family have new partners and I was dreading the extra cost of gifts, so I am going to give them hampers they can share.I was going to use some of my Tesco clubcard points and buy the Blockbuster vouchers and then put some wine, chocs and popcorn in so everyone can have a cosy night in.
I managed to buy 5x1kg tins of roses for £7.99 off the halfcost site, they are a few weeks out of date but the chocs are fine(I had to test a few):p .
They look really nice in little bags tied with ribbon, and a kilo of chocs goes a long way, just 4 kilo to use up    .0 -
I had asked what to get my cousin's two small children for Christmas, and as they hadn't really asked for much I was asked if I would mind getting them a voucher for a DVD or computer game. After seeing this thread I thought I would try and make it more "exciting" so done a "Big Night in at the Movies" Hamper.
I was quite pleased with it but wasn't sure if I was just feeling chuffed with myself so when I showed it to my son for his honest opinion he asked could he have one too so he must have liked it too.
To make it a bit more personal, I put each of the vouchers into DVD cases which I had made personalised DVD covers entitled
"Euan & Eilidh's Big Night in at the Movies"
Starring:-- Vouchers for New DVDs
- Two Share Size Bags of Doritos
- Two Tubes of Pringles for Sharing
- Four Family Bags of Chocolates
- Microwaveable popcorn (so it is hot and fresh just like the cinema)
- Three Bottles of Water
- Three Bottles of Fizzy Drinks
- A Couple of Cans of Beer for Dad
Total (excluding the vouchers) was just under £12.00 and hopefully there is enough stuff there for a few "big nights in"
I love this idea, will definitely try one this year.2013
Necklace, £500, Marquee, Tickets Home Improv show, Patternity Tights.tickets to Cruise Show, kindle cover, 2 tickets Brisfest. Tin of personalised chocolates.Hawking DVD, McCain voucher, clay modelling set,Chocolate, Book,Raleigh 125th Book.

Just want to say thanks for all the ideas in this thread. I've poached a few for close friends to try to keep costs down this year. All the childrens presents are sorted (i think) So just adults to get sorted.
You are all so talented & if mine turn out to look even half as good as yours I will be happy.
Hugs

It is a window box planter. Ideal for my dad as the garden he has is a communal one (he loved gardeneing before he moved to his flat and the other people in the block are happy to let him keep the gardens up to a high standard). He could still use the window box planter for his own window on the 2nd floor and the rest for the gardens.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0
