I went sailing for 3 days in the summer! (not quite the world!) and things that were really useful were large hammock type nets to hang fruit and veg from the ceiling (save on space), PLASTIC knives, forks, spoons, etc for when the boat lurches so all the best crockery doesn't go flying. Books, magazines etc to read, compass? nautical maps (no idea where you'd get them tho!!), if yacht hasnt got a gas hob in it, how about a small camping cooker or...... 50 disposable BBQs !!! not sure if this is what you were after or if you wanted actual nautical items?
Thanks JT. When they bought the yacht it was already fully kitted out. They have just replaced the melamine glasses (and the real cutlery!) but I will be doing my best to get my hands on nice melamine plates and bowls as knock down prices between now and then. Dad keeps dropping hints at certain books which are too expensive so will need to try get something else that will maybe suit. It does need a new hob, but I think I will leave that down to them as I will with the charts as there are so many there I don't know what they need and what they don't!!!!
I was thinking about putting in some small photoframes that can be stuck up inside the cabin so they can take us all away with them when they go and things like fish shaped corkscrew and stuff but apart from that I am stuck!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Can't remember if I've uploaded this properly as it's that long since I've done it but hopefully you should see a pic of a wine and rum basket that I did for a wedding earlier this year. It has white and rose wine, a bottle of rum, 2 wine glasses, 2 short glasses, Baileys chocs, a wine cooler, wine glass charms, corkscrew, liquer chocs, wine thermometer. It cost about £60 including the large basket which came from Ikea for about £8 and was an ideal pressie, me and my sister gave it between us.
Sorry it's not the best of pics, was taken just as I wrapped it on my phone but hope it gives a couple of ideas also."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

i am really enjoying seeing the photos of the finished hampers, they are all great, keep them coming!
i am planning to make a family night in one for my mum, step dad and 12 year old brother with 2 or 3 dvds, some crips, sweets and drinks, a winter warmer one for my friend with pjs and either socks or slippers, scarf and gloves and a mug with hot choc, marshmallows etc, a tea/coffee one for my 2 nans with a mug (with a pic of my little girl on), tea, coffe, mini baileys and some nice choc/biscuits.
also planning on making ones for my 14 year old sister in law and 6 year old neice - not quite sure what to put in those, prob just girlie/pink things like toiletries, make up and accessories. have sent off for lots of samples from the freebies board to include!
if anyone has any suggestions for anything to put in any of the above please let me know!
also thinking of making one for my other nan who doesn't like tea/coffe, she does play bingo a lot though - can anyone think of anything bingo related apart from a bingo dabber? (have already sent for a free one of those!)
many thanks0
