  • Got the blockbuster vouchers in the post today to put in my "movie" hampers, thing is they expire on New Years Eve, do you think it is alright to still include them? They will only have 6 days in which to use it. Does anyone know what blockbusters opening hours are during the christmas period? Will they be open for them to use it?

I would write and complain to be honest... It clearly states in the Tesco pdf document for the blockbuster vouchers that the vouchers should be valid for 6 months from date of issue. Not very good if they only arrived today! That's 3 months less than they should last...

I would definitely get on to them about that.

Hiya! Well it was going to be my Mums but I got hardly any help on the gardening board so I abandoned all hope. My latest idea (which I AM going to do!!) is my "Cruise in a box" which is on a thread on the board, I am feeling really inspired with it and looking forward to trying it out!!! It is great as it has also incorporated some of the presents I have already bought. (details on that post - ive waffled loads on it!!)

I did my bit on that thread, obviously no help though, much better to be using gifts you have already bought thought, well done. I have a pile under my bed, bought thinking that is for so and so and then buy too many presents and get shouted at by the other half. think Ill have to swap some.

You can cellophane on ebay on a roll, or some office stationery shops but I normally buy mine from a local florist. So its worth a try asking them. :)

That wasnt meant to sound ungrateful by the way!!! i do all help from people on here! i might re-dig out the thread in case there has been other response that I have not seen yet. it would be a great hamper to do...perhaps a soulution for grandad and his window boxes??

EDIT: Louise_1981 - Just checked the post and hadn't seen your thread!! They are great ideas, and relatively easy to achieve, so I think I might just give that a go! The terracotta pots sound great!!! I will keep you posted on the final result!! :o)

  • :santa2: Hiya...just in case anyones still looking for baskets, Instore today have a nice seagrass range starting from £1.00. They have lids on too. The smallest is big enough for a couple of bottles of shampoo etc, face sachets, face cloth, woolly socks and candles. More if you leave the lid open, then wrap up.
    Hope that helps. x:D
    P.s. I just looove Christmas too. x
Pps. Have looked all over, wilkinsons, Instore, Asda, Tesco, poundland and matalan for tiny whisks to go in with my chocolate drinks cup and sachets but can't find one anywhere? Anyone know where they are selling them. Many thanks. x

  • HI all. I did a few baskets last year that should be displayed towards the start of this thread if you would like another couple of ideas. I bought a large roll of cellophane from ebay for under £3 and it did all of them plus wastage, plus a few throughout the year, and still have loads left! I think it is 25m or something.
I also have a card for a warehouse (Country Baskets) which stocks a lot of florist stuff. If you have one near you it may be worth seeing if you can get access to there, I bought the pull bows there in a box of 25 silver and 50 pink (or the other way about!) for about £5 a box which is well cheaper than ebay. They also have the cellophane for next to nothing and stock various baskets and sotrage boxes aswell. Worth seeing if you can get to one as they have some lovely candles and stuff that you can also include.

Anyway, this year I am wanting to do a sailing themes hamper for my dad who used his pension lump sum to buy a yacht and will be going off around the world in future summers. So far I have an anchor shaped clock that he can use on the boat that I got in Bulgaria, but I am stuck on other things to include in it! Maybe a bit ambitious but does anyone have ideas what I can use???

I went sailing for 3 days in the summer! (not quite the world!) and things that were really useful were large hammock type nets to hang fruit and veg from the ceiling (save on space), PLASTIC knives, forks, spoons, etc for when the boat lurches so all the best crockery doesn't go flying. Books, magazines etc to read, compass? nautical maps (no idea where you'd get them tho!!), if yacht hasnt got a gas hob in it, how about a small camping cooker or...... 50 disposable BBQs !!! not sure if this is what you were after or if you wanted actual nautical items?
