I have started picking up bits and pieces for my christmas hampers. I am on the look out for some mugs, planning on doing 4 hot chocolate gift sets and a tea hamper. Any bargains around in the sales? I can't find anything that is a real bargain

I buy Ikea mugs, 35p I think, then I use Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paints and decorate them with a simple design of holly and berries, leave to dry then 24hrs, dry to touch in approx 30 mins, then bake 35 min in oven. They are then dishwasher proof. I usually get a shoe box decorate it and line it with tissue then put 4 cups in with the extras like chocolate etc or wrap individually in cellophane with all goodies in cup as per usual.

PS buy smallest pot of paints possible as they last ages, about £3.50 a pot will do about 100 cups!!

I know I'm a bit late with this, but to print photos I always use Bonusprint. You download your digital files to them and get them back a day or two later as 'proper' photos, and it costs around 10p per print plus postage.

Hi mr & mrs t, how about bucking the silver bracelet/ moneybox trend and doing a craft basket with things in suitable for both ages? Haven't really thought this through as don't have any firm ideas. Don't know if there's anything around reasonably priced that you can buy for them to do foot/hand prints for each girl - either paint or cast (is it called plaster of paris?). Could also include chunky crayons and paper for 1yo and something pink including glitter for the 5yo. A friend of mine bought a large canvas and all the family did prints of hands and feet on it and it is in pride of place on the wall in their house. It looks stunning and completely original. Not sure how you can do this in gift form? Sorry, I'm waffling, not sure if I'm making any sense :rotfl:

Thanks Rusty, the sweets are going to come in little stripey bags (old fashioned sweet shop type of effect!). Got about 9-10 different types of liquorice sweets so I think you're right I can afford to leave the card set out :D ..

    Thanks again :D

    Hi chicky

I would leave all teh sweeties in their stripey bags and jsut arrange them nicely in the basket and wrap it up - that way he has the unexpected excitment of opening all the little baggies as well to see what little treasures they hold

    Hi Rusty, how about...

 a terramundi jar (about £18)
    foot/hand mould type thing
 a scrapbook album that you personalise with his name, christening date etc and a few pages filled in with things like average price of a house, price of bread/milk, number one single/album/ book this week, birth sign and meaning... something for his parents to look at and fill in now and for the child to look at when he's older

    any good?

Very good as always :D ... Thanks Rainmac :)

You actualy gave me a fabulous idea ... Steal said child, paint his hand place on paper and push ... paint his foot ... place on paper and push ... then take photo of said child smiling, buy a nice 3 photo frame and put photo in middle with handprint one side and footprint the other ;)
