Rainmac,
Thanks so much for those ideas. My niece/ god daughter is being christened in a month and I love the idea of a Terramundi and scrapbook as a gift.
I just lurve this thread.
GISI xHi Rusty, how about...a terramundi jar (about £18)
foot/hand mould type thing
a scrapbook album that you personalise with his name, christening date etc and a few pages filled in with things like average price of a house, price of bread/milk, number one single/album/ book this week, birth sign and meaning... something for his parents to look at and fill in now and for the child to look at when he's older
any good?

You actualy gave me a fabulous idea ... Steal said child, paint his hand place on paper and push ... paint his foot ... place on paper and push ... then take photo of said child smiling, buy a nice 3 photo frame and put photo in middle with handprint one side and footprint the other
I hope ya don't mind me butting in...but a few years ago my son's daycare had this idea and all the parents got them when the kids left.
It was a frame with my son's handprints and his photo and then a little poem which read:
These are my hands
And they will do
A thousand loving things for you
And when I am big
You will recall
That really once
I was so small
He is 6 now and I still have it hanging up:coffee:0 -
I did these last christmas
I had 3 small canvases form poundland, drew round my sons hand on coloured paper and stuck in it the bottom corner of the canvas then hand wrote this poem onto it
"Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small,
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing,
I'll be grown up someday,
And all these tiny handprints
Will simply fade away.
So here's a final handprint
Just so you can recall,
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small."Time to find me again0 -
I really want to view these baskets etc but I cannot see where the images are on the threads? How do I see them ?0

Hi GISI, a terramundi and scrapbook/memory book are exactly what we are going to give as a Christening pressie later this year when me and the OH are godparents. You can get terramundi jars personalised. A ceramic cafe near me sells genuine terramundi and will personalise it for me:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Finished my FIL's liquorice basket...
Unwrapped. I included a tag inside a stripey envelope with a list of everything in the basket, a sort of menu of liquorice with a note at the bottom warning not to eat it all at once (is it true liquorice is a natual laxative). I hate liquorice myself and glad the basket is now wrapped to help contain the aroma :rotfl:
Wrapped - excuse the bits on the carpet, instead of creating beautiful presents I am supposed to be cleaning the house top to bottom today - donlt think that's going to happen :rotfl::wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Completely agree sammy and shelly, lovely poems! Think I'm going to do hand prints and poems for the grandparents this year for Xmas. Another thing to add to the making for Xmas list - OMG the list is getting long!!!:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
