  • I am putting together a gift in a jar present for my friends two little boys, one is 4 and the other is 2. I am going to do something like a cookie mix, usually have a budget of 5 pounds per child. I was wondering what else I could put with this, I got as far as a wooden spoon each!

You could look for some mini baking tins, whisks, cup cases to make fairy cakes with , cookie cutters or things to decorate the cakes with. When mine were small i used to make a mary berry recipe that was an all in one cake which just meant that all the ingredients were added to the bowl and mixed. You did not have to cream the sugar and butter etc..seperately.. it was great as they could all add something and if an ingredient got added before another it was no problem. If you have not already bought the jar perhaps a plastic bowl would be better as it cant get broken? I think this is a lovely idea.

    Great idea!

If you do a roll out biscuit mix you could include cutters - maybe numbers 2 and 4 or boy things like cars, dinosaurs? And some ready made icing that comes in a tube so easy for them to decorate the biscuits.

Smartie cookies (don't roll them out) are always popular as they are so colourful.

what else can you put in the tea and coffee hampers? I am doing a huge one for christmas - Here's what I intend to get for it:

    (posh)Tea samples
    (posh)coffee samples
coffee chocolates or chocolate coated coffee beans
    a nice coffee mug
a collectors/novelty teaspoon of some sort
a tea bag saucer (seen in Tesco for about £1)

    Scattymam1, how about...

    Sugar swizzel sticks?
Think you can also get chocolates on sticks that you can melt in coffee? Some nice after dinner petit four type biscuits?
    Candles scented with tea/coffee aromas?
A nice tea cup and saucer
I bought one of these for a tea basket - bargain for £4.99... http://www.lakeland.co.uk/typhoon!REG-time-for-tea/F/keyword/typhoon/product/50885
Tea strainer (if you're giving leaf tea)?
Chocolate duster pot (for adding chocolate sprinkles to frothy coffee)?
Cocoa powder to put in the duster pot?

    HTH :D

Hi guys, I've had so much fun looking through this thread! I think all your baskets are fab and so inspirational. In fact I now want to make my own basket gift for a friend! She is 21 and is due to get married this summer. I'd like to put together a hamper that they can take away with them to the hotel after their wedding day as they will be staying there for 3 nights. As you guys all have loads of experience with this sort of thing some help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi Grace, how about a relaxing hamper...
    lovely stuff for the bath
    matching body lotion
    scented candles
couple bottles wine/ champers/ bucks fizz - whatever your budget will allow
chocs - maybe couple of different things like a box of truffles and a bar/slab
something handmade like a wooden sign that says "newlyweds" or "mr & mrs ..." or "names and date of wedding" or a personal message from you to both of them
picture frame for them to put a pic of themselves in when they get home as a married couple!
newspaper from the day of the wedding - tricky if you want to get this completely sorted before the big day!

Sure there's loads of other things but I've run out of ideas for now! :D

    HTH ;)
