I got 3 pink baskets tucked inside each other from sperdrug ages ago & have finally got round to filling them.
Nail set for mum in law. Varnishes/top coats tc, file, clippers, hand cream & pulse point thingymjiggy! All from Boots clearance in Jan/Feb & cost no more than £5 in total.
For my niece a 'so' gift set that cost £2 which had perfume, small pink denim bag, body spray & hand lotion. And a pair of socks that were £1 clearance in Claires.
My friend is having a baby in Nov. This lilac outfit was £1!!!! when Mothercare cleared off their Okaidi stock. Theres a matching coat that was £1 under the outfit too. The johnsons stuff was on 2 for £4 in Boots so those 3 cost me £4.50 & nappies were just over £3. I had a coupon that gave me 500 advantage points when I got this too so was very pleased!!
All the baskets have lids. Shall I package them nicely, put lid on & wrap or spend some money on cellaphane & ribbon. What d'ya reckon?
I've typed this lot out twice now - the first lot disappeared into internet land. Fingers crossed this stays!!!
They look lovely! As for wrapping them, you could put the lids on and use a wide piece of ribbon to hold them together and put a big bow on top. You could also attach a label then, giving a snippet of what's inside?
Does that make sense? I'm not thinking too well today!0 -

That makes perfect sense.
See, I knew someone on here would have a nice clever ideaSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I literally have tears in my eyes looking at these baskets and all the thought that went into them! I am so soppy!! Have always fancied making gift baskets and this has given me a push!! Will definetely make my mum one and my nan, perhaps ohs mum and dad too. My mums will just be a general one filled with things she never buys herself! Socks, knickers, nice shower gel, choc, mini bottles of alcohol etc any more ideas?'They only had one cow!'0

Perhaps you could put the lid on behind the basket as like a "back wall" and hold it in place with a ribbon tied all the way around and into a huge bow at the front! lovely basket!!

I picked those 3 up months ago from Superdrug in a clearance sale so doubt if they'll have any left. I also got some last year from Matalan home section.
Have you got a Morrisons supermarket near you. They've got lots reduced at the moment.
Wilkinsons is another place worth trying.
Woolworths sometimes have baskets on offer too. Looking online they have these which would be good for a few bulky toiletries and a back scrub brush/loofah?

It doesn't have to be a wicker basket. It could be a tin? Or a bright coloured plastic storage box with or without lid if its for a child/teenager?
Some people buy cheap plastic bins and load it full of stuff.
What about a cardboard box or shoe box wrapped with suitable wrapping paper or brown paper. I work in a shoe shop & they are almost always happy to save boxes for you if you ask.
My children painted a shoebox white one year and personalised it to me & filled it full of my favourite things. It was one of the best pressies I ever recievedSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

I just wanted to say that I have been hugely inspired by this thread to make some hampers this year for close family. Everyone did a great job last year from the pictures I've seen, I hope to see plenty of pic's this year!! Of course I'll post mine in the next few months
Oh and if anyone is looking around for some good quality baskets, Argos have got a special offer on their Seagrass baskets, 3 for £15, but they are on Buy One Get One Free until 18th of Jan next year (guess they must of took heed of this thread) so really they work out at £2.50 a basket.
