Just wanted to say how lovely all the hampers were last year. This thread has inspired me...I might suggest it to my bf for his family as he always has trouble getting presents for them and this way, it can just be bits and bobs. I'm planning on doing a little hamper for my dad, as he already has his main Christmas present (a camera lens he really wanted) but I'd like something for him to unwrap. So far have got a book, a pin badge and some fudge and will probably look out for a couple more things along the way. For my mum I plan on doing a breakfast hamper for her birthday as I already have her Christmas present sorted. I've already got some egg cups, a butter dish and napkins with her initials. I'll also add some coffee, a cup and bramble jelly.

I'm going to try and do a family night in hamper for a family that I babysit for, I've been doing it for 7 years, so we are close. Will look maybe for some chocolate, popcorn, sweets for the kids and wine and more chocs for the parents. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I'm doing an arts and crafts hamper for my niece for her birthday. My bf and I did one for his niece earlier this year and it was a big hit and came in under £10 which had a plastic lidded box full of things from Woolworths, Poundland, 99p shop and other places. The back to school sales will be my destination for a lot of things for my niece. Thats all I have planned so far. So, only another six kids and eight adults to take care of!!!

  • Try florists for baskets, au naturel has them, but are pricey

    Hello everyone,

What wonderful ideas you all have!!

Would anyone be able to suggest hampers for children? A girl aged 8 and a boy aged 5.

Also I will be posting them to Ireland so they cannot be too big, can you buy small baskets/hampers anywhere?

Crafting is very big now, so I had an idea for a crafting hamper for my aunty, again it has to be posted.

I did a "rainy afternoon" hamper once for my niece, which had a book, a dvd, some chocolates and notepad and pen in which she loved. To make it lighter, you could perhaps send book tokens instead of the book, same for the dvd and find a cute notebook and pen set.

For a five year old boy, I'd suggest buying a few small things he likes (whether its cars, dinosaurs, fire engines etc) and putting it all together. My nephew this year is getting something similar. You could even include book tokens for him to choose something himself, depending on your budget.

I bought a set of 3 baskets from my local Morrisons on Sunday for £4.99 reduced from £9.99, 3 different sizes, but even the smallest could be made into a hamper. Hope this helps!

    Moyilla,

Perhaps a box would be more practical to put the 'loot' in as you will be putting it in the post...needs to be sturdy to survive the Christmas rush.
